This segment foeuses on the breaker trip event and how both the train speed and the differential pressure between the regenerator and reaetor stripper ean be eontrolled during this event. Based on the breaker status, aetion is immediately initiated on the expander. Due to the improved reliability in train operation with these patented eontrol teehniques, the PRT ean be better utilized without saerifieing plant reliability. This leads to more effieient FCCU operation and the pay-baek period for tlie improved eontrol system ean be extremely short. [Pg.405]

When embodied in a modern integrated plant environment, dynamie plant health assessment, proeess modeling and proeess integration provide the means to augment plant reliability, availability and safety with maximum eapaeity and flexibility. [Pg.654]

While not necessarily improving the reciprocating compressor s indi vidual reliability, using spared units does improve the overall plant reliability. With proper monitoring, the compressors may be removed from service in a timely manner for maintenance. If the program is properly administered, unplanned shutdowns can be avoided and a higher plant reliability achieved. [Pg.475]

The main objective of the In-Plant Reliability Data System (IPRDS) was to develop a comprehensive and component-specific data base for PRA and other component reliability-related statistical analysis. Data base personnel visited selected plants and copied all the plant maintenance wor)c requests. They also gathered plant equipment lists and plant drawings and in some cases interviewed plant personnel for Information on component populations and duty cycles. Subsequently, the maintenance records were screened to separate out the cases of corrective maintenance applying to particular components these were reviewed to determine such things as failure modes, severity, and, if possible, failure cause. The data from these reports were encoded into a computerized data base. [Pg.78]

The Reactor Safety Study (WASH-1400) was published by the USNRC in 1975 to set down a methodology for assessing nuclear plant reliability and risk. Of particular Interest to the data analyst are Appendix III, "Failure Data," and Appendix IV, "Common Mode Failures."... [Pg.125]

The most desirable source of equipment reliability data for a CPQRA is the operating experience of the process and plant being studied. Therefore, a chapter of this book provides information that will help an engineer locate raw plant reliability data and convert them to failure rates. However, the quality and confidenee level of the plant-specific data may be questionable because of operating and maintenance procedures, short relevant operating experience, and limited pieces of equipment available for study. The best data to use in a CPQRA are often a combination of generic and plant-specific data. [Pg.282]

It is a book which should be in the hands of all practising plant, reliability and maintenance engineers as well as senior management who are involved in the efficient running and control of their respective establishments. [Pg.1117]

In the conversion of fossil and nuclear energy to electricity, the value of high temperature solution phase thermodynamics in improving plant reliability has been far less obvious than that of classical thermodynamics in predicting Carnot cycle efficiency. Experimental studies under conditions appropriate to modern boiler plant are difficult and with little pressure from designers for such studies this area of thermodynamic study has been seriously neglected until the last decade or two. [Pg.653]
