Isolation and Physicochemical Characterisation of Xylose-rich Pectic Polysaccharide from Wheat Straw... [Pg.637]

There is growing interest in the use of cereal straws such as wheat straw for animal feed after increasing its digestibility by various methods, or as a raw material for paper and board production. This is particularly important in areas with limited forest resources (1). For all these purposes a good physicochemical characterisation of cereal straw is necessary. [Pg.637]

To date, the structural features of pectic polysaccharides and plant cell walls have been studied extensively using chemical analysis and enzymatic degradation. In addition, research on isolation and physicochemical characterisation of pectin from citrus peels, apple peels, sunflower head residues and sugar beet pulp has been reported (2). However, the pectic polysaccharides extracted from wheat straw have only previously been reported by Przeszlakowska (3). The author extracted 0.44% pectic substances from Author to whom correspondence should be addressed. [Pg.637]

Various physicochemical characterisation techniques were used to study tris(5-acetyl-3-thienyl)methane (TATM) inclusion compounds with l, -di-chloroalkane guests (n = 1-10). Thermogravimetric analysis allowed to determine host-guest stoichiometric ratios. From the multiplicity of the host signals in the C CP MAS NMR spectrum, the number of host molecules in the asymmetric unit of each inclusion compound was determined. It was found that only 1,9-dichlorononane and 1,10-dichlorodecane form isostructural TATM inclusion compounds. The obtained results were compared with those for urea-carboxylic acid complexes. [Pg.276]

Physicochemical characterisation was characterised of self-assembled nanoparticles based on glycol chitosan-bearing 5p-cholanic acid and their surfactant activity . Fluorescence spectroscopy and pulsed field gradient NMR (PFG-NMR) revealed information concerning the polydispersity of micelle polymers - chiral polymeric surfactants developed over the past decade for use as chiral selectors in the analytical separation of enantiomers . The authors suggest that polydispersity is a crucial factor in understanding the chiral interactions of these species. [Pg.407]

The interaction between surfactants and proteins is an active field of research in colloid science because very often in practice the proteins and surfactants are present in the same systems such as industrial, biological, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic systems. In addition, physicochemical characterisation of seed proteins is important in order to understand the nature of the protein and its interaction with other components. [Pg.81]
