PEN labels

PEN is a good candidate for labels where temperature tolerance is required, such as multi-layer labels for automobile bodies when being painted and dried at high temperatures. PEN is ideally suited for bar code labels where dimensional stability and registration are required at elevated temperatures. PEN labels have dimensional-excellence performance on printed circuit boards, in solvent- and aqueous-based painting operations, and in under-the-hood applications. PEN labels also provide substantially improved performance over PET or vinyl labels when the label must survive in harsh chemical environments. PEN performs extremely well in applications where the label must be in contact with organic solvents, such as acetone, ethers, toluene and phenol, as well as strong bases (30 % NaOH) and moderate acids.

If a solution, precipitate, filtrate, etc., is set aside for subsequent treatment, the container must be labelled so that the contents can be readily identified, and the vessel must be suitably covered to prevent contamination of the contents by dust in this context, bark corks are usually unsuitable they invariably tend to shed some dust. For temporary labelling, a Chinagraph pencil or a felt tip pen which will write directly on to glass is preferable to the gummed labels which are used when more permanent labelling is required.

For the synthesis of D-glucuronic acid, methods of oxidation of suitable D-glucose derivatives have been devised during the past two decades these procedures have been comprehensively reviewed by Marsh,6 Mehltretter,7 and Heyns and Paulsen.8 For special purposes, for example, for the preparation of 6-I4C-labelled D-glucuronic acid, chain-extension reactions of 1,2-O-isopropylidene-a-D-xy/o-pen-todialdo-I,4-fiiranose by the cyanohydrin synthesis9 or by ethynyla-tion10 are used, but these frequently yield mixtures of D-glucuronic acid and L-iduronic acid. 

Have a prepared sampling kit - solvent cleaned glass vials, tweezers, spatulas, scalpels, nitrile gloves, aluminium foil, sticky labels, and pens. Once cleaned, wrap the vials, etc., in a strip of the foil, both to keep them clean and to identify them as such. 

The use of specialty substrates for labels have been driven by the market looking for materials with greater dimensional stability at higher temperature, improved mechanical performance under harsh environments, and resistance to scratching and tearing. Up until now, PET-based labels have been used where conditions are moderate, while polyimide-based labels have been employed in the most extreme environments. PEN films offer a unique performance advantage over PET and a considerable cost saving when compared to polyimide films. 

Label the contents of the reagents using a proper marker pen and stickers.
