Paper towel

This procedure is used to separate crystallized product from solvent or to remove crap and solids from a liquid. Figure 8 shows the proper apparatus to use. The collecting flask is called a side arm flask and to that extended nipple (tee heel) is attached a vacuum source. The thing that is shoved through the rubber stopper is called a Buchner funnel and is usually made of white porcelain or, preferably, PP. The Buchner funnel, when viewed from above, can be seen to have lots of pin holes in the bottom surface of its reservoir. Over this surface is layered a single sheet of rounded filter paper or paper towel. [Pg.29]

After 12-24 hours of reflux the reaction is, for the most part, complete. The reaction mix will be a dark brown. So what does one do about all those brown particles and junk. Well, usually there aren t any. The solution should be uniformly dark. If any solids can be seen it means that they are insoluble in ethanol and can be removed from solution by gravity or vacuum filtration through a coffee filter or some paper towels. If it takes a day to drip through the filter then so-be-it. The ethanol with its payload of isosafrole will... [Pg.40]

Wherever chemicals are handled, adequate washing facilities are required conveniently situated with respect to the workplace. These comprise wash-basins or troughs with a constant supply of hot and cold or warm water soap or liquid hand cleanser clean towels or hot-air driers or disposable paper towels. Typical minimum standards are ... [Pg.440]

Advises patient to wash applicator with mild soap and warm water, rinse well, and dry with paper towel after use. [Pg.557]

At large drugstore chains and supermarkets, the operator of a laboratory can find great bargains on items such as paper towels and cleaning products when they are on special sale. [Pg.101]

Remove the beaker form the pan and carefully dry the outside of the beaker with a paper towel. Place the beaker on the hot plate. [Pg.114]

Pour the contents of the test tubes into a beaker. Using forceps, remove the zinc strips. Rinse them with water and dry with paper towels. Rinse the test tubes thoroughly with water. Discard the used solutions as directed by your teacher. [Pg.154]

Remove the key and copper anode. Rinse with distilled water and blot dry with a clean paper towel. [Pg.166]

Cut the polymer at the liquid-liquid interface using a pair of scissors. Place the rope in a 150-mL beaker and rinse the rope several times with water. Then remove the rope from the beaker and place on paper towels and allow to air dry. [Pg.183]

Use the disinfectant solution according to the manufacturer s directions to thoroughly clean and disinfect your work area. Wipe the area with paper towels and dispose of the towels as directed by your teacher. Wash your hands with antibacterial soap. [Pg.202]

Eight samples from each set (A and D) were split into two groups, one incubated in 0.15 M phosphate buffered solution (PBS) and the other in PBS containing 0.1% of the phase transfer catalyst, tricapryl methyl ammonium chloride (Aldrich Aliquot 336) (PBS, catalyzed), both at pH 7.4. The samples were suspended in centrifuge tubes with 10 mL of incubation solution by nylon string and the tubes were placed in a shaker bath at a constant temperature of 37°C. Periodically, the samples were taken out of the tubes, placed on lint free paper towels, allowed to dry for exactly one hour, weighed and placed in fresh incubation media. The total time of the study was 48 weeks (330 days). [Pg.183]

Mix the first 5 ingredients together to make a batter. Heat the oil. Dip the blossom clusters into the batter and then fry them in the hot oil 3 to 5 minutes. Drain on paper towels. Enjoy the elder fritters drizzled with some maple syrup, honey or yogurt. They can also be enjoyed plain. [Pg.53]

If the phosphine is spilled onto a paper towel (or other extended surface), it may ignite in air. [Pg.1158]

Decant the supernatant from each tube, and drain the last drop against a clean section of paper towel. [Pg.14]

To retard drying, place each prepared slide on a bent glass rod or portions of applicator sticks in a petri dish containing a damp paper towel. Petri dishes may be placed in the refrigerator if examination will be delayed. Alternatively, cover slips may be sealed with Vaspar. [Pg.15]

Slides with only a thin film can be fixed by being immersed in absolute methyl or ethyl alcohol for 1 min and allowed to air dry. If the thick film is on one end of the slide and the thin film is on the other end, the thin film is fixed by a brief flooding or by immersion in alcohol and allowed to air dry, while the thick film is protected from alcohol or alcohol fumes. In a well-ventilated area, the slide may be dried vertically with the thick film up or horizontally after the thick film is covered with a dry paper towel. [Pg.27]

Transfer the rack into Wash buffer 2 (1 x SSC). Absorb excess Wash buffer 1 with a paper towel before putting the rack in Wash buffer 2. Shake the slides for 5 min at room temperature. [Pg.231]

Lithium wire (99% with 1% of sodium) was purchased from the Aldrich Chemical Company, Inc. The mineral oil is wipfed off with a paper towel before use. [Pg.14]
