The main modification for practical use in endocrine safety pharmacology is the application of this method to satellite groups of animals in a repeated dose study. Most pelleted animal feeds nowadays contain a standard amount of iodine (it may be useful to check the specification). Therefore, the addition of potassium iodine to the drinking water is not required. In this satellite groups, the animals are injected with a standard dose of radio-iodine after the last treatment, and the dose of radioactivity accumulated in the thyroid glands after a standard time interval (e.g. two hours) is determined and evaluated.

Agglomerated materials may constitute final products, such as tabletted pharmaceutical specialties (Section 6.2), pelleted animal feed (Section 6.5), instant drink concentrates (Section 6.4), briquetted solid fuels (Section 6.10) and so on, or intermediate products, such as granulated pharmaceutical formulations as feed for tabletting...

Typical examples of solid samples include large particulates, such as those found in ores smaller particulates, such as soils and sediments tablets, pellets, and capsules used in dispensing pharmaceutical products and animal feeds sheet materials, such as polymers and rolled metals and tissue samples from biological specimens. 

Nonnutrient Additives. Nonnutritional dietary additives provide antioxidants to preserve freshness, flavor enhancers to stimulate food selection, color to meet the owner s expectations, pellet biaders to minimi2e fine particles, mycostats to minimi2e mold growth, and iagredient-flow enhancers. Pet foods do not iaclude coccidiostats, antibiotics, added hormonal materials, and fly-larval iasecticides used ia other animal feeds. 

Agriculture ndNutrition. Cobalt salts, soluble in water or stomach acid, are added to soils and animal feeds to correct cobalt deficiencies. In soil apphcation the cobalt is readily assimilated into the plants and subsequendy made available to the animals (56). Plants do not seem to be affected by the cobalt uptake from the soil. Cobalt salts are also added to salt blocks or pellets (see Feeds and feed additives).

Oil content does not materially decrease flowability. For example, the addition of oils and fats to animal-feed ingredients improves the quahty of pellets made from these materials, making the pellet surfaces harder and enabling the pellets to resist attrition.

The liquid left after distillation is subjected to centrifugation, where most of the suspended solids are separated. The clear liquid can be recycled by adding it back to the starch conversion stage. The moist cake released by the centrifuges is mixed with the syrup produced by the evaporator to form a homogenous mixture and is dewatered in dryers. The dryers produce a Distillers Dried Grains with Solubles (DDGS) meal, which can be formed into pellets. These are used in many applications, most prominently in animal feed. 

Copra meal (cake) from the filter press is pelletized, bagged, and despatched to animal feed millers. 

The remaining material from the pressing stage (expeller) of sunflower seed usually contains 10-12% of oil. Sunflower meal is obtained as a byproduct of solvent extraction from this material. In order to facilitate handling and transportation, the meal is often compacted through pressure and temperature treatment, into the shape of sunflower pellets. Sunflower pellets are the fourth important oleaginous raw material used in animal feeds, after soybean, cottonseed, and canola pellets. 

Use in animal feeds. Hulls can be used in ruminant feeds when finely ground and mixed with other ingredients. When adequate energy is provided, sunflower hull pellets may be used as a portion of the roughage component in ruminant rations due to their high content of cellulose and lignin. They are used to add bulk to concentrated rations and to absorb liquids such as molasses. Sunflower hulls are sold to feed manufacturers and livestock feeders at prices comparable to those of other ingredients (38). 

Another approach for directly disposing spent bleaching earth is to blend it back in with seed being processed through an oil extraction plant. However, if too much is blended in, it can adversely affect the quality of the crude oil being extracted and may cause the mineral limits of the seed meal to be exceeded (128, 129). Spent bleaching clay can also be used as animal feed supplement (139, 140), particularly in broiler feed diets. In pelletized form, the spent bleaching clay is noncombustible.
