Parts secured

Locomotive crankshaft built up from parts secured with high strength anaerobic retainer. [Pg.111]

Ensure that all the individual components in the assembly are adequately supported when in position the friction between contiguous ground-glass surfaces does not provide adequate support. Therefore always use clamps, the claws of which are lined with rubber or other soft material. When assembling apparatus, allow some play in the clamps until the individual parts are in position, and then secure the position of the assembly by gently increasing the pressure of the clamps. [Pg.42]

For pipelines, so-called bracelets are used (see Section 16.6). They consist of groups of plate anodes of more or less large breadth, partly curved, which are secured near to one another on an iron band support like links of a bracelet and laid around pipelines. With the same objective, half-shells are used which are fixed in pairs under stress around the pipe and then welded. [Pg.202]

Throughout the standard, various clauses reference the clause on quality records. To avoid repetition, the common requirements for quality records are assembled under one heading. The requirements, however, are not limited to those clauses in which this requirement is referenced as many other clauses refer to records. However, as all clauses will generate some documentary evidence it should not be assumed that all such documents are quality records. The requirements, however, apply only to original records and not to any copies other than those taken for security reasons or copies of subcontractor records. There are several types of document used in a quality system and only some are classified as quality records. As quality records are documents it might be assumed that the requirements of clause 4.5 on document and data control apply to quality records. As clause 4.16 is not cross referenced in clause 4.5 (except for clause 4.5.2.2), there is clearly no requirement for you to apply the requirements for document control to quality records. (See also Part 2 Chapter 5.) Figure 5.2 illustrates the difference between quality records and documents. [Pg.491]

Eriction and wear is even more important for national security. Downtime of militaiy hardware as parts wear out and lower output power of militaiy engines due to high friction can contribute to decreased effectiveness of the militaiy and increases... [Pg.1163]

Where concentrated alkali and/or acids are stored and used on-site as part of the treatment process, care should be exercised to prevent misuse, fire, and security and health hazards. The provision of emergency showers, eyewash stations, etc. needs careful consideration. [Pg.20]

All parts of the security system should interact with each other to form an integrated whole. [Pg.48]

Security is intended to frustrate thinking people, and it will be obvious that its effectiveness will be determined by the strength of its weakest part. Care must always be taken to ensure that there is no known vulnerable point, since this will be exploited to the full, thereby nullifying the security equipment otherwise provided. Once the standard of security has been determined it must be uniformly and intelligently applied. [Pg.167]

Good housekeeping can play a major part in maintaining a safe and environmentally sound place of work. Tripping over material not tidied away causes many accidents. Another source of potential injury is in the lack of secure storage of cleaning equipment, tools, etc. [Pg.1062]

The ideal design is one in which ail parts can be operated satisfactorily with water flowing with the least turbulence and aeration, and at a rate of flow within the limits that the materials involved can securely withstand. These limits, with regard to flow-rate limitations, vary with the material, as described in Section 1.2, but turbulence, aeration or presence of suspended particulates can lower these limits considerably, and designs that eliminate these two factors go a long way towards preventing impingement attack, which can be the major cause of failures in sea-water systems. (See also Sections 1.6 and 2.1.)... [Pg.73]

More abstractly the condition Tr (p+p ) = iV implies that the part of the Hilbert space defined by the projection operator p should be fully contained in the part defined by the projection operator p+. If we now vary p slightly so that this condition is no longer fulfilled, Eq. II.GO shows that the pure spin state previously described by the Slater determinant becomes mixed up with states of higher quantum numbers S = m+1,. . . . The idea of the electron pairing in doubly occupied orbitals is therefore essential in the Hartree-Fock scheme in order to secure that the Slater determinant really represents a pure spin state. This means, however, that, in the calculation of the best spin orbitals y>k(x), there is a new auxiliary condition of the form... [Pg.231]
