Security equipment

Security is intended to frustrate thinking people, and it will be obvious that its effectiveness will be determined by the strength of its weakest part. Care must always be taken to ensure that there is no known vulnerable point, since this will be exploited to the full, thereby nullifying the security equipment otherwise provided. Once the standard of security has been determined it must be uniformly and intelligently applied. 

Congress passes the Terrorist Firearms Detection Act. It bans firearms (such as plastic handguns) that cannot be detected by security equipment such as airport X-ray machines. 

With regard to the anxiety for physical damages, safety is equivalent to security and danger to anxiety. However, in the other cases, safety does not always mean security. Safety equipment, safety process, and safety plant imply harmless equipment, harmless process, and harmless plant, respectively. On the other hand, secure equipment, secure process, and secure plant should not only be harmless but should also guarantee peace of mind. 

Many schools employ security guards and have installed security equipment such as video cameras and metal detectors in the building. Police have brought in dogs to sniff out drugs, and lockers are sometimes searched randomly. When carrying out experiments it is vital that all apparatus is held in place securely during the procedure. It is essential that you know how to assemble supporting and securing equipment to the highest possible standards of safety. The most common types of supporting and securing equipment are shown in Fig. 5.1. 

The necessary safety precautions for the sampler should be emphasized. Securing equipment is always necessary when entering channels, shafts, wells, galleries, etc. A check should be made beforehand for toxic or ignitable gases. The sampler should be secured to a safety rope and backed up by a second person. Safety regulations should always be observed in all cases of water sampling.

The facility project must consider the need for security of the site and elements on it. For example, the facility may have control points for anyone entering the site and for access to plant areas or administrative areas. There may be a need for additional security for hazardous areas. Hazardous areas may require fencing, monitoring cameras, and other physical security equipment to monitor unauthorized access.

Detection of security breaches is usually visual, but cameras can be used to cover more ground and provide centralized coordination. Screenings also serve as detection strategies. Delay is achieved from physically securing equipment and assets, fencing, locked doors, and the systanatic use of barriers. Response at a school event may not be from law enforcement alone. Emergency medical service personnel, security officers, and trained school onployees can respond and coordinate incidents until more skilled or ranking personnel arrive (Philpott, 2010). Events should always culminate with the production of countermeasures to any incurred problems.

In the last few years, the need for emergency supplies during a.c. supply failure has been considerably extended in electronics and security equipment. Sealed nickel-cadmium batteries are kept on constant charge when the a.c. supply is present and incorporated in utilization circuits, which must continue to function during a.c. supply failure. Sealed nickel-cadmium batteries are particularly suited for these applications by reason of their ability to accept overcharge, their freedom from maintenance and their reliability.
