Cross-referencing

For simple compounds the main reference uses the systematic I.U.P.A.C. nomenclature, but other nomenclature is cross-referenced to the systematic name.

Record keeping is an essential requisite of good market research. In the chemical field, call reports or visit reports are usually written by the interviewer and become part of the report in some cases and certainly should become part of the company or consultant files for future reference. Obviously, the call report serves a valuable purpose in the analysis and writing stage. Some market researchers have also found that cross-referencing call reports over a period of time allows rapid identification of the respondents who have demonstrated the greatest abiUty in forecasting their company needs and/or the needs of their industry.

Familiarisation with sources of information in the field, how to prepare specifications and standards, how to tailor requirements for cost effectiveness, and the cross-referencing and correlation of specifications and standards are covered.

These consider ring syntheses from non-heterocyclic compounds first, followed by transformation of other heterocyclics. Syntheses in which no new heterocyclic ring is formed are dealt with primarily in the appropriate reactivity section, but with cross-referencing when necessary. Ring syntheses from acyclic precursors are dealt with as logically as possible according to the number and nature of the new ring bonds formed in the process. 

Is there a system of clear cross-referencing when two or more jobs subject to permits may affect each other ... 

A bulk sample is the last choice and the least desirable. It should be submitted "for laboratory use only" if there is a possibility of contamination by other matter. The type of bulk sample submitted to the laboratory should be cross-referenced to the appropriate air samples. A reported bulk sample analysis for quartz (or cristobalite) will be semi-quantitative in nature because (1) The XRD analysis procedure requires a thin layer deposition for an accurate analysis. CAS numbers are cross-referenced with an alphabetical list of chemical names in Table II of these instructions, tf you are reporting one of the chemical categories in Table II (e.g., copper compounds), enter not applicable, NA, In the CAS number space.

Readily available inherently safer technology databases which are cataloged, cross referenced and indexed need to be developed. These might take the form of libraries of information. Several examples of needed databases are ... 

The 1987 version of ISO 9001 required the quality policy and the quality system procedures and instructions to be documented, clearly identifying three levels of documents in practice, organizations produced an intermediate level between the quality policy statement and the procedures which addressed the requirements of the standard and cross-referenced the associated procedures. This intermediate level together with the quality policy statement was often referred to as the quality manual. However, some manuals merely paraphrased the requirements of the standard, some described the quality system, and others confined the manual to the organization s operational policies. The guidance given in clause 5.3.1 of ISO 9004-1 suggests that the quality system documentation consists of policies and procedures. Clearly these policies are of a somewhat lower level than the corporate quality policy addressed in Part 2 Chapter 1. 

Don t use cross-referencing between documents unless it is to the whole document. 

The original nonconformity report should indicate the nature of the nonconformity but after rework, or completion of operations, the nonconformity will have been eliminated. Where the nonconformity was accepted as is without rework, repair, or changing the specification then the actual condition is the original condition and this can be specified by the original nonconformity report. If the product has to be repaired or modified, the actual condition can be specified by the repair, salvage, or modification scheme, which is usually a separate document and can either be detailed on the nonconformity report or cross referenced to it. A lot of time can be saved if this information is readily accessible when problems arise later. 

Throughout the standard, various clauses reference the clause on quality records. To avoid repetition, the common requirements for quality records are assembled under one heading. The requirements, however, are not limited to those clauses in which this requirement is referenced as many other clauses refer to records. However, as all clauses will generate some documentary evidence it should not be assumed that all such documents are quality records. The requirements, however, apply only to original records and not to any copies other than those taken for security reasons or copies of subcontractor records. There are several types of document used in a quality system and only some are classified as quality records. As quality records are documents it might be assumed that the requirements of clause 4.5 on document and data control apply to quality records. As clause 4.16 is not cross referenced in clause 4.5 (except for clause 4.5.2.2), there is clearly no requirement for you to apply the requirements for document control to quality records. (See also Part 2 Chapter 5.) Figure 5.2 illustrates the difference between quality records and documents. 

An identity on tlie MSDS must be cross-referenced to tlie identity found on tlie label. 

Because of the versatility of roller chain drives, certain standards have been established. With these standards, interchangeability of chains is possible between one manufacturer and another. As long as chains are identifiable, they can be cross-referenced easily without any serious operational problems arising. Table 58.7 shows the standard roller chain American Standards Association (ASA) number by pitch length for single, double, and triple strand chains.
