Partnership issues

Fosmire, M. and A. Macklin (2002) Riding the active learning wave Using problem-based learning as a catalyst for creating faculty-librarian partnerships. Issues in Science and Technology and Librarianship 34,1-10. [Pg.124]

Once a partner is selected, tiie hard work of implementation begins. We provide two tools for deployment at this stage. These are described in the next chapter. Together, they address many root causes for partnership failures. The first tool addresses the scope of partnership issues. Effective planning for partnership operations begins with a mutual understanding of the issues faced. Joint identification and resolution keep the partnership focused on common goals. [Pg.127]

Flame retardants in printed circuit boards partnership. Circuit boards are commonly used in electronics in consumer and industrial products, including computers and cell phones. In order to ensure fire safety, manufacturers commonly produce circuit boards with flame-retardant chemicals. While serving an important performance function, some flame-retardant chemicals can be harmful if released into the environment. To better understand the issues and the full range of options for flame-retarding circuit boards, DfE is engaging with the electronics industry and other stakeholders in a partnership. [Pg.301]

The middle phase of this process may be turbulent as a new equilibrium is being established, and this period typically coincides with aftercare for the client. Many of the issues discussed previously become a central focus for the family during the aftercare period. As the issues become resolved and family members become more familiar and comfortable with the new, drug-free loved one, then family equilibrium may be restored at a new level. Some family systems do not survive these changes, meaning that a partnership may dissolve. However, many families and partnerships do weather the storms and grow much closer because of this process of separate and collective recovery that takes place after a drug problem has been overcome. The final phase for a family that weathers the storm... [Pg.245]

On 6 July 2005 the Strategic Partnership On REACH project results were published highlighting fundamental issues to simplify the scheme. [Pg.22]

In interdisciplinary endeavors, department chairs have a number of administrative barriers that cause them to be reluctant to engage in partnerships (1) how to distribute expenses for necessary materials across departments (2) how to allocate the time commitment of faculty across departments (3) intellectual property issues and (4) the burden of adding electives in addition to core coursework. To overcome barriers in interdisciplinary endeavors, department must see the value in collaboration. A reward system to motivate these partnerships may encourage interdisciplinary collaboration and encourage departments to see the value in collaboration outside their departments, but other value propositions must also be identifled. [Pg.28]

The global nature of the food supply and world food trade have made food quality and food safety international issues. Hence, since its inception, the World Health Organization (WHO) has been working toward the improvement of food safety. In partnership with the Lood and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (LAO), WHO provides for the Secretariat of the Codex Alimentarius Commission (CAC). The latter Commission is responsible for all matters pertaining to the implementation of the Joint LAO/WHO Lood Standards Program. [Pg.304]

Of the 78 active partnerships, the number of partnerships that focus on certain diseases or health policy issues is set out in the Annex. Partnerships may deal in any combination with product distribution, product development, and/or policy and health systems issues between or among various diseases. The development of PPPs has engendered a debate over their goals, strategies, and sustainability. Table 4.1 (adapted from Foladorl 2003) summarizes some of the issues. [Pg.50]

Capturing the value that ultimately derives from fundamental research is inefficient and very hard for both non-profit and for profit-oriented organizations. Unfortunately, given delays between performing basic science and measuring impacts on human health, unambiguous evidence on these issues may take some time to accumulate. Annex Number of partnerships with associated disease or issue... [Pg.53]

The basic building blocks of business development deals are, for the most part, contracts. These contain various degrees of complexity depending on the number of elements and parties to the contract. Partnerships and joint ventures are other legal forms with which the business developer will need to become familiar. Another part of the law which you will need to be familiar is intellectual property law which, in the pharmaceutical industry, underlies most of the value of the products. Some of the practical issues that need to be addressed by business development will be discussed in this book, but no attempt to pre-empt legal advice or interpret the legal mind will be made. [Pg.13]

It may be that due to the sensitivity of personal data and market-sensitive data some of these items should be held separately from the data room under the control of the legal department and available only to qualified individuals in the counterparty s team, even when a confidentiality agreement is in place. Although the due diligence team will be constrained to silence issues such as remuneration can stimulate comments which can be unhelpful later in a partnership. [Pg.138]

Different levels of segmentation are required depending on the go-to-market model and the organization s current capabilities. In our experience, the most valuable segmentation approach is based upon profit potential and needs. On the profit potential side, the key issue is whether or not a customer s profit potential warrants a customized, tailored (with a menu of options), or standard offering. On the customer needs side, we see four different behaviors in purchasing customers will buy on price, service, product attributes, or win-win performance partnerships. [Pg.272]
