Packaging Abstracts

The Chemical Abstracts Service has institutionalized the use of graphic representations for identification of and retrieval of information about chemical compounds through their Graphical Data Stmcture (GDS) and connection table (CT). Two information packages. Messenger and STN Express, are the basis for this on-line retrieval system (42). 

Simulation is best described as the process of translating a real system into a working model in order to run experiments. A simulation does not duplicate a system rather it is an abstraction of reality using mathematics to express cause-and-effect relationships that determine the behavior of the system. Hence the representation displayed on a computer may not always be pictori-ally similar to the real system, and, if it is, then it must be regarded as an added bonus. Software for computer simulation is often customized and based on that developed in academia. There are not many commercial packages available for pharmaceutical formulation. 

Collections are so widely used in modeling that there is a standard package of generic types, extensible by an experienced modeler, as detailed in Appendix A. In Catalysis, collections themselves are immutable objects, although they are not usually explicitly shown on type models. As usual, collection attributes do not dictate an implementation but are used simply to make terms precise they are an abstraction of any implementatiou... 

Do not lose sight of the domain terms even in your code. Use refinement to maintain trace-ability even as your code becomes more decoupled and reusable. Wherever possible, recast the problem domain descriptions themselves using these orthogonal and more abstract views remember, you are actively constructing a model of reality and not passively discovering it. Use frameworks (see Chapter 9, Model Frameworks and Template Packages) to explicitly document the mapping from domain terms to terms and roles in the abstract problem descriptions. 

Refinements—documented abstraction relationships between types, collaborations, requirements, classes, and so on. A refinement is often placed in a separate package from the elements it relates by importing those packages into its own, and adding documentation justifying the refinement. 

Documentation is structured around specifications and implementation and their refinement and import relationships. A user manual—a description of how a user accomplishes tasks by using the system(s)—is a particular form of documentation associated with a refinement how the abstract business model and actions are realized by more-detailed actions performed by the users and systems. Test specifications are also associated with refinement relationships. The rules for system architecture are documented in a package that specifies the patterns and frameworks that will be used in other packages that import it. 

Many of the collaborations will follow stereotypical interaction patterns e.g. an interaction which consists of log in, conduct some transactions, and log out or make a selection, and then operate on that selection. These can be abstracted as frameworks (Chapter 9, Model Frameworks and Template Packages (p.371)), then applied and composed to define the system context collaboration... 

Now we specify those more abstract actions, and separate the interface details to another package e.g. when a refinement adds a particular user-interface to the "business core". 

Sekisni Kaseihin Kogy Co. has started production of closed cell type PE foam board. The PE board has a low density cnshion effect and high heat insulation. Boards will be prodnced with thicknesses of 40,50 and 60mm in 1 metre widths for packaging, shock absorption and moistnre barrier uses. The company is already producing PS and PU foamed materials. One proposal for reducing translation costs is to publish a detailed abstract and the claims of the application, in the official language of each designated state so that a full translation would only be required if the patent was to be enforced. This so-called package solution is not as attractive as it seems because the number contracting states is set to increase with the likely addition of Poland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Bulgaria and Romania.
