Model framework

We have demonstrated that a combined experimental (27A1 3Q MAS NMR) and theoretical (QM-Pot employing the bare framework model) approach represents a powerful tool for the determination of the local geometry of framework A104 tetrahedra, the prediction of27A1 isotropic chemical shifts in hydrated silicon rich zeolites, and the identification of A1 siting in the framework of silicon-rich zeolites. Experimental evidence is provided for the occupation of at least 10 out of 24 distinguishable framework T sites by A1 atoms in silicon-rich ZSM-5. The conclusion is reached that the A1 distribution over the framework T sites is neither random nor controlled by a simple rule, but depends on the conditions of the zeolite synthesis. [Pg.33]

Fig. 9A-D Comparison of measured FM concentrations in all plants to predicted FM concentrations in the U.S. and Europe [1] for A influent, B primary effluent, C final effluent using the first tier (sorption only) of the framework, and D final effluent using the second tier (sorption and biodegradation) of the framework [11]. Points above the line have measured values greater than predicted by the framework model [ 1 ], while those below the line have measured values less than predicted. The filled circles represent concentrations in the U.S. and the open circles represent concentrations in Europe... Framework models concentrate on the bonds in the molecule. In the least expensive kits, these are represented by narrow tubes, joined by linker pieces that signify the atom position. The linkers have four, three, or two stubs to fit into the tubes, according to the number of bonds required, and these are also arranged at appropriate angles (tetrahedral 109°, trigonal 120°, linear 180°). The linkers are also coloured differently to show the atom they represent, typically black for carbon, white for hydrogen, red for oxygen, and blue for... [Pg.52]

In ball-and-stick models, balls with holes drilled at appropriate angles are used to represent the atoms, and sticks or springs are used for the bonds to link them. The resultant model is rather like the framework model, but has representations of the atoms. Models tend to look better than the framework type, but in practice tend to be bigger and less user friendly. [Pg.52]

Consideration of the framework models strongly suggests that not only are the pore systems different but it is likely that the cation positions will be different. A possible consequence would be an alteration of ion exchange or sorption selectivities. [Pg.71]

We believe that though the calculated x-ray powder patterns are only first approximations, the strategy of building related framework models, calculating the x-ray powder patterns, and then using them for screening to identify specimens worthy of more detailed examination, is an efficient and useful approach which may be extended to other zeolite systems. [Pg.72]

The nucleation-condensation mechanism can be accommodated in modified framework and hydrophobic-collapse models the framework model must be modified so that formation of secondary structure is linked to the formation of tertiary interactions and the hydrophobic collapse model must have the formation of tertiary interactions linked to the formation of secondary structure. Another variation of concerted structure formation is the hydrophobic zipper. 68 Whatever the distinctions of names, stable tertiary and secondary structural interactions must form concurrently. [Pg.310]

With the exception of the clathrate framework model, all these hypotheses appear to be qualitatively consistent with the available X-ray diffraction data on liquid water. It is argued by some investigators, however, that there are still significant inconsistencies between the most sophisticated statistical thermodynamic models for liquid water and the most sophisticated X-ray and neutron diffraction measurements [734-736]. The interpretation of these data from different experiments, using the concept of pair-correlation functions, shows discrepancies that are considered significant in terms of the instrumental precision, and the definitive answer seems not yet available [737J. [Pg.428]

Modeling of dynamics of zeolite frameworks has two main goals. The first is to test whether a particular force field is suitable for description of the dynamic characteristics of the lattice as well as to simulate the zeolite structure itself. Examples of such calculations were mentioned in the section on Potential Models for Framework Modeling. The second and most challenging goal is to provide a qualitative (quantative would be even more desirable) interpretation of experimental data, in particular, data from spectroscopic experiments. Mod-... [Pg.189]
