Over-zealousness

In conclusion, this symposium has been convened because of concerns about exposure of infants to toxic levels of certain elements in infant foods. I am pleased that the organizers have, at the same time, recognized the necessity of considering the other end of the spectrum. The issue by the European Commission of a Communication on the use of the precautionary principle affirms that it is neither the politicization of science nor the acceptance of zero-risk. If you note a trace of bitterness pertaining to the over zealous use of vortex breakers in my text, it is not without reason. The use of a totally unneeded vortex breaker in the bottom of a 90,000 BSD vacuum tower in the old ESSO LAGO Refinery in Aruba cost the new owners of the plant (Coastal) many millions of dollars in lost gas-oil production.
