Other Support Programs

CHEOPS is based on the method of atomic constants, which uses atom contributions and an anharmonic oscillator model. Unlike other similar programs, this allows the prediction of polymer network and copolymer properties. A list of 39 properties could be computed. These include permeability, solubility, thermodynamic, microscopic, physical and optical properties. It also predicts the temperature dependence of some of the properties. The program supports common organic functionality as well as halides. As, B, P, Pb, S, Si, and Sn. Files can be saved with individual structures or a database of structures. 

Energy subsidies are widely attacked from many different viewpoints about public policy. Thus, among economists, both severe critics of the oil companies, such as Blair, and those such as Adelman and McAvoy who stress defective government policy criticize the subsidies. Environmentalists and other supporters of active government often feel that too many programs aid the unworthy. 

Finally, as noted earlier, comorbid substance abuse, particularly with bipolar male patients, is a strong predictor of suicide-related lethality. It is critically important to recognize these complicating disorders and aggressively intervene with appropriate clinical strategies. Referral to Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), Narcotics Anonymous (NA), and other related counseling support programs, as well as prescription of naltrexone (Revia) in the appropriate patients, may also help to diminish the risk of serious morbidity (see also the section The Alcoholic Patient in Chapter 14).

Some programs of home care have been applied to pediatric patients. Home care for cystic fibrosis and oncology patients is previously described. Other examples of home care programs in children are patients with asthma that require high technology at home, children with newly diagnosed diabetes,and infants who require neonatal special care and a family support program.
