Calibrations shall be performed by an outside organization qualified to perform such work, or may be accomplished by company employees who are specifically trained and proficient at such assignments. The calibration equipment shall be the National Bureau of Standards when applicable. [Pg.440]

The earliest commercially available filters were manufactured in two pore sizes 0.45 and 0.8 pm. The 0.45 pm-rated membranes were considered to be stefilizing-grade filters and were successfully used in the sterile filtration of pharmaceuticals and parenterals. The membrane filters were qualified using Serratia marcescens a standard bacterium, having dimensions of 0.6 x 1 pm. However, in the late 1960s it became apparent that the matrix of the 0.45 pm-rated filters could be penetrated by some pseudomonad-like organisms (1). For sterile filtration apphcations in the 1990s, 0.2 pm-rated membranes are the industry standard in the manufacture of sterile parenterals and pharmaceuticals. [Pg.139]

These fibrous minerals share several properties which qualify them as asbestiform fibers (/) they are found in large clusters which can be easily separated from the host matrix or cleaved into thinner fibers (1) (2) the fibers exhibit high tensile strengths (1) (J) they show high length diameter ratios, from a minimum of 20 up to >1000 (1) (4) they are sufficiendy dexible to be spun and (5) macroscopicaHy, they resemble organic fibers such as cellulose (2). [Pg.344]

Most blocked isocyanates are solids at room temperature and thus may require the use of solvent. The unblocking temperatures are often fairly high and are energy intensive. Furthermore, certain blocking agents may qualify as volatile organic compounds. For these reasons, the blocked isocyanate adhesives occupy a small, but important segment of the adhesive marketplace. [Pg.792]

This plan must identify (as a specific individual) all competent or qualified persons required by applicable regulations or host organization procedures. [Pg.217]

This form doeuments information related to eontraetors/subeontraetors with partieular emphasis on a reeord of good safety performanee and quality whieh meets your requirements so that the host organization may be provided with safety performanee and eost eontrol. Failure to eomplete and return this form will preelude qualifying a eontraetoiV subeontraetor to do work for the host organization. [Pg.218]

All lower tier subcontractors engaged by a contractor/subcontractor providing services to the host organization will be qualified in accordance with this procedure, the same as the contractor/subcontractor, with particular emphasis on the prequalification form, insurance requirements, and safety rules. A qualified contractor/subcontractor file shall be maintained by purchasing for each lower tier subcontractor employed by a contractor/subcontractor. [Pg.222]

In the reactions characterized in the general sense above, phenyl and benzyl were the organic residues bound to phosphorus. It is not clear which of these groups is removed in the LAH dealkylation step. It should also be noted that as tetraquaternary phosphonium salts, these species do not qualify as crown analogs in the strictest sense because of the absence of lone pair electrons on phosphorus. Furthermore, the quaternary phosphorus can resist oxidation much better than secondary or tertiary phospho-... [Pg.273]

The change does not need to be reviewed and approved by the same individuals who reviewed and approved the original document. The important factor is that the same functions or organizations review and approve the change. The reason is to subject the document to the same scrutiny as the original by personnel as qualified as those who examined the original. Providing your procedures specify the review and approval authorities in terms of functions or positions and not names, the requirement is easily satisfied. [Pg.299]

Ideally, the staffers you recruit to conduct a PSM assessment should be a dedicated team that is, the same team assesses each facility or organization, using the same method and format. This may not be practical in many companies, in which qualified staff are often overcommitted a workable alternative is a "revolving door" approach, under which assessment team composition varies according to designated individuals availability. [Pg.87]

Figure 1-35 presents some typical monthly requirements of process engineering for projects of different magnitudes. In some organizations the schedule is set by the available manpower, and does not always represent all that could be accomplished if a limitless supply of qualified manpower were available. [Pg.41]

BCFs and BAFs measured before the steady state is reached have little value because they are dependent on the period of exposure of the organism to the chemical, and thus may greatly underestimate the degree of biomagnification that is possible. This statement should be qualified by the reservation that there may be situations in which the duration of exposure cannot be long enough for the steady state to be reached, for example, where the life span of an insect is very short. The principal processes of uptake and loss by different types of organisms are indicated in Table 4.1 (see also Box 4.2). [Pg.76]

After the performance of collaborative studies organized by the RIVM (National Institute of Ihiblic Health and Environmental Protection, Bilthoven, The Netherlands) and SM T certification studies were performed by a group of eleven or twelve qualified European laboratories. These examined simultaneously the materials using standardized methods following a very strict analytical protocol. Table 5.1 below shows data for CRM 506 (Mooijman et al. 1999)-... [Pg.159]
