Most people are barely able to conceive of the fact that chemical substances and scents (even in small doses) can cause illness and lead to various, sometimes serious symptoms. Many people are presumed to suffer from MCS without themselves realizing that MCS causes their symptoms. While the experiment 1s running, informational messages are logged to a printer designated for that purpose. Real-time data (temperatures, pressures, etc.) can be displayed using laboratory or office terminals. The researcher can also view the data analysis results for the latest set.

Drop-on-demand (DOD) inkjet is the method that is universally adopted in the printers used in the home and the office environments. It takes its generic name from the fact that ink is delivered from the ink head directly to the substrate only as demanded by the printing information supplied by the software. 

For use in small office/home ofQce (SOHO) printers the preferred inks, for obvious enviromnental reasons, are essentially aqueous.
