Squires [49] investigated the use of melt blendable phosphorus/bromine flame-retardants in PP woven and non-woven fabrics and carpets. Consistent high quality injection moulded parts met V2 ratings in the UL 94 test. Good results are easily achieved with minimal fire retardant loading or the use of a synergist. 

The US additionally imposes materials-specific requirements. Examples of these are the California State statutes and the regulations of the New York Port Authority [50] for cushioning materials, which must meet the construction-specific tests such as ASTM El 62 [15] and ASTM D2843 [15]. If the cushioning materials fail, upholstery combinations may be substituted. 

Handermann [51] bas discussed the use of flame retardant PU for furniture and home upholstered furnishings, particularly bedding.

Furnishing Materials As components of upholstered furniture, bedding, or carpeting, engineered fabrics have a unique role to play and strengthen their value with antimicrobial treatments.

Paper stock (or furnish) may consist of a mixture of cellulose, filler (for example clay, titanium dioxide, calcium carbonate), rosin, alum and water brought together in predetermined proportions. The percent of fiber and other furnish materials suspended in the total volume and weight of water is commonly known as consistency . Control of furnish consistency in the stock preparation and papermaking area is a prime prerequisite of paper making. The Fourdrinier paper machine was developed for the specific purpose of converting this paper furnish into a finished reel of paper on a continuous basis. 

The prepared furnish material for the Fourdrinier paper maehine is stored ahead of the machine in the machine chest (stoek chest). The furnish is agitated continuously to maintain an even blend of furnish materials. Stock consistency in the machine chest is typically 3 to 4%.
