PG workstations have become powerful, are simpler to use, and are generally ubiquitous within both laboratory and office environments. Using Wiadows-based software now widely available on instmment data stations as a basis for the LIMS will reduce the training costs and capital requirements when implementing a LIMS. 

Inks for continuous ink-jet printers typically comprise dyes dissolved in water or solvent having salts added to make the ink conductive for electrostatic charging. Whenever waterproof printing is required, low boiling solvent inks ate used. For printers that ate used in office environments, water is used as the ink solvent. Using water-based inks, humectants may be added to inhibit drying of ink in the sump and surfactants ate added to wet the printing surface. 

Based on the above three areas of potential concern, a plethora of waste reduction ac tivities can be performed at home or in an office environment. One can easily note the similarities between these activities and those pollution-prevention activities performed in industry. The development of any program must take into consideration the maintenance tasks that need be carried out and the resources available, thereby ensuring that product quality and personnel safety standards are met. Meantime, however, just to show that all the bad stuff doesn t necessarily happen on the shop floor, let s look at another cautionary tale, this time in an ordinary office environment. 

Drop-on-demand (DOD) inkjet is the method that is universally adopted in the printers used in the home and the office environments. It takes its generic name from the fact that ink is delivered from the ink head directly to the substrate only as demanded by the printing information supplied by the software.

Chemists talk to each other by drawing pictures, and when nearly two decades ago software became readily available that allowed this to be done electronically, the office environment for chemists changed in a remarkable manner. We discussed the differences within companies, that is, in different parts of the company. The plant environment—which, of course, for chemical engineers is very important—is frankly a much more negative place for women than the office environment. Somehow, the plant environment, when you are dealing with operators and so on, is not as welcoming to women as, for example, the typical business environment.

The database is updated each month with coverage of scientific journals, new books, standards, data sheets, audiovisual aids and technical reports.

Ozone is useful since it is a powerful oxidising agent, but the molecule itself is toxic to both animal and plant life and its release into the environment must be avoided. The problem of ozone decomposition is therefore technologically important. For example, ozone needs to be reduced in airplane cabins, submarines and office environments. Discharges from sterilisation, odour removal and waste water treatment units must also have their ozone levels lowered [466,544]. 

This reaction may proceed under humidity conditions when otherwise SO2 is not deposited and oxidized on the surface.
