Such chemicals are easily named soda ash, caustic soda, the mineral acids, benzene, phthalic anhydride, aniline, phenol (90 are given in Table I). About 59% of all market news relates to these 90 chemicals. Almost any three of the ten leading journals will contribute information on most of them. Certain international organizations and United States agencies with international programs prepare summaries and compilations, essentially of the data taken from the national official publications. The principal source of such information, specifically on chemicals in foreign nations, was for a number of years and until the end of 1950 the Office of International Trade of the Bureau of Foreign and Domestic Commerce since the beginning of 1951 the major part of the program of commodities information has been in the National Production Authority. [Pg.48]

TWEA s most dramatic departure from past precedent, believed its authors, was Section 6, the provision that created the Alien Property Custodian (APC). Until just before TWEA passed in October 1917, legislators had plaimed to put the APC in Redfield s Department of Commerce (within its Bureau of Foreign and Domestic Commerce), but their final wording left it to the president s discretion. Wilson instead placed the APC at the head of a new executive agency, the Office of Alien Property, which would report directly to him. [Pg.267]

Cosmetics are not subject to registration or notification, there are pre-shipment testing procedures in force, based on mandatory SASO standards applied equally to both imported and domestically produced products. These encompass the protection of health, safety, national security, public morals, the environment and prevention of deceptive practices. For imported cosmetics, procedures to ensure conformity to the appUcable Saudi standards are enforced by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, which implements the International Conformity Certification Program (ICCP) as a combined conformity assessment, inspection and certification scheme, on the basis of which goods are allowed entry into the KSA. Compliance with the relevant Saudi standards, or approved equivalent international alternatives, leads to the issue of a Certificate of Conformity (CoC) prior to shipment by Country Offices or Regional Licensing Centres. The ICCP apphes to all consumer products exported to the KSA (KSA, 2004). Samples may be selected for minimum verification tests as a part of annual routine inspections. Periodic pre-shipment inspection will be performed. [Pg.24]
