Co-operative Bank

To date, biopolymers are being used by only a small number of card companies and retailers. These include the Co-operative Bank in the UK, which uses PLA for its credit and debit cards. US company, UV Color, also uses biopolymers for its line of transaction cards, gift cards, phone cards and other specialty cards, which are branded Earthsource.

In November 2003, the EC also launched the European Initiative forCrowthto boost EU economic development. The initiative includes a "Quick Start Programme" with a list of projects for public/private investment in infrastructure, networks and knowledge. The aim is to encourage the creation of public/private partnerships in co-operation with the Member States and the European Investment Bank in order to leverage finance. 

After refining the protein structure the X-ray ciystallographer (or NMR spectroscopist) submits his refined stmcture to the Brookhaven Protein Data Bank. However, structures that have been solved as part of an industrial co-operation may be kept secret by an industry which has financed the study wholly or in part. Currently approximately 700 stractures are available, in the data bank but some of these have only been deposited as their sequence, whilst the data are being worked up. 

The NEA Data Bank provides nuclear data and computer program services for participating countries. In these and related tasks, the NEA works in close collaboration with the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna, with which it has a Co-operation Agreement, as well as with other international organisations in the nuclear field. 

In the future, co-operation among national ESBs operating in Antarctica will be very important. In fact, the Antarctic banking projects would be best implemented by a multidisciplinary approach (chemical, biological, oceanographical, geological, etc.) for most effective exchange of information and samples (21).
