MUST units

Heady stuff I examined pictures of the large and futuristic inflatable MUST units. Their design was both ingenious and functional. Each unit consisted of a series of semi-circular, air-filled cylinders, creating a structure that looked like an enormous green barrel, half buried in the sand. Each had an airtight airlock entrance.

As this complex caravan of procedures moved along without complications, euphoric vibes were detectable in the MUST unit. 

Members of the clinical staff rotated in 12-hour shifts. Two physicians, two nurses and two technicians were in the clinical area at all times. I was happy to be a seventh wheel, watching the action on the monitors in the other MUST unit. 

Lloyd Matter had placed remotely controllable cameras in the clinical area. He also mounted one on a tall, specially constructed TV tower just outside. It provided excellent telephoto views of the guard gate, foxhole, approaching helicopter or smoke grenade, depending on the focus of interest. Two monitors in the second MUST unit provided audio and video coverage of both indoor and outdoor activities for the observers. 

When the helicopter landed at the MUST unit, the men could still walk, talk and (had we thought of it) chew some gum - to keep their saliva flowing. The rest of the protocol went as smoothly as the first time. Remarkably, just as with the other group of volunteers, BZ again incapacitated two of the four men, and only moderately affected the other two. Providence must have decided to smile on our endeavors. By Thursday, Thanksgiving Day, we declared the test a success and released the volunteers and most of the staff. 

Since we may see in the table of ionization values that pure water contains but 0.000,000,1 mole of H+ ions and 0.000,000,1 mole of OH- ions per liter, we may know in advance that when an acid and a base are mixed the H+ and OH- ions cannot remain in the presence of each other, but must unite according to the reaction... 

Dyes are compounds which can be used to color cotton, wool, linen, silk, leather, and other substances. In order to be of value as a dye the colored compound must unite with the substance to be dyed in such a way that the resulting product is not materially affected by the treatment to which it is subjected in use, such as rubbing or washing with soap and water. Dyes which are not appreciably affected by exposure to sunlight are said to be Hast those which fade rapidly are called "fugitive. ... 

The peoples of the world must unite, or they will perish. This war, that has ravaged so much of the earth, has written these words. The atomic bomb has spelled them out for all men to understand. Other men have spoken them, in other times, of other wars, of other weapons. They have not prevailed. There are some, misled by a false sense of human history, who hold that they will not prevail today. It is not for us to believe that. By our works we are committed, committed to a world united, before the common peril, in law, and in humanity. 

In 1996, static and dynamic calculations are being performed on the 20MWth PAP-GT of KFA Julich and compared to their calculations with different codes. For this reactor type, fuel temperatures are maximal in the scenario of depressurization with recriticality. Even for this scenario, fuel temperatures do not exceed 1300 C, so there should be room for upscaling for economic reasons. On the other hand, it would be convenient to fuel the reactor batchwise instead of continuously, and the use of thorium could be required. These two features may lead to a larger temperature margin. The optimal design must unite these features in the best acceptable way. 

There is one type of even AH in which the numbers of starred and unstarred atoms are the same but for which one can nevertheless write no classical structure. These are AHs derived by union of two odd AHs through an inactive position in each 3,3 -bibenzyl (Fig. 3.17a) is a simple example, containing equal numbers of starred and unstarred positions (Fig. 3.17b). The reason for the lack of a classical structure for these molecules is easily seen. Any classical structure for an odd AH radical necessarily has the odd electron at a starred position. In order to get a classical, even AH from it, we must unite it with another odd AH through one of its starred atoms. The... 

The base unit forms the foundation for all other activities. This central core lies at the heart of direct and indirect cooperation with a constellation of partners, who undertake functions designed to achieve an ultimate goal. According to Capraro and Baglin (2002), the extended business has to set the standard for all partners in design and production excellence, which must unite the efforts of numerous partners to achieve shared success in the extended company. The extended organization must therefore develop the capacity to re-think itself and quickly recompose itself in response to its environment and these new links.
