Industries [3], Six other DCC units are in operation with a total operating experience of more than 50 years. Total licensed capacity is about 20 MMTA. Two major grassroots units currently under construction were licensed to the joint venture of Saudi Aramco Sumitomo, and to JSC Taneco, Nizhnekamsk, to produce polymer grade propylene as shown in Table 8.2. In addition, RIPP Sinopec recently licensed three DCC units in China and Shaw licensed two DCC units in India. [Pg.123]

A major current refinery-petrochemical project is under construction for Saudi Aramco-Sumitomo Chemical at their Rabigh, KSA site. In conjunction with our JGC partner we have linked the upstream refinery expansion to a combined mega-DCC unit and mega-ethane steam cracker. Corresponding production rates are 1500 kta ethylene/950 kta propylene. The corresponding integrated layout is shown below in Figure 8.2. [Pg.125]

Dr. Coker has authored Fortran Programs for Chemical Process Design, Analysis and Simulation, and written a topic section in the Encyclopedia of Chemical Processing and Design (Vol. 61). He has directed and conducted short courses for Procter Gamble in the U.K., Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) and Saudi Aramco Shell Refinery Company (SASREF) in Saudi Arabia. His articles have been published in several international journals. [Pg.1127]

It is backed by a joint venture between Sinopec, Fujian Province, ExxonMobil and Saudi Aramco. Another new plant that was completed in 2009 is the Dushanzi Integrated Refinery and Petrochemicals Complex in the Xinjiang region of China. Its cost was 4 billion and it is owned by PetroChina and Dushanzi Petrochemical Corp. [Pg.43]

Meanwhile, massive investments are being made in new petrochemical and refinery plants in China, the Middle East and India. Saudi Arabia is vastly increasing the size of its petrochemicals facilities, often in partnership with leading global oil companies. In India, one of the world s largest refinery complexes was completed in December 2008. Reliance Industries Ltd., invested 6 billion to double its Jamnagar refinery near the Pakistani border, which is now producing at full capacity of 580,000 barrels per day. Approximately 60% of new refinery construction is in Asia and the Middle East, predominantly in China, India, Saudi Arabia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Kuwait and Japan. One of the leaders in the investment in new refineries is Saudi Aramco. [Pg.44]

Propane and butane (LPG) price set by reference to the prevailing LPG market. There is a very large trade in LPG in the major economies. Its main use is as a commercial energy fuel it is used in very large amounts to this end. Most of the big producers in the US or the North Sea sell to the local markets. This leaves Saudi Arabia as the major swing producer which sells according the supply and demand across the world. The consequence is that most LPG prices are set relative to the Saudi Aramco contract price which is set on a monthly basis. The history of the propane Aramco and US propane price is illustrated in Figure 3.8. [Pg.67]

Butane is priced similarly to propane and there is a strong correlation between propane and butane prices as illustrated in Figure 3.10 for the Saudi Aramco Contract. ... [Pg.69]

Within Saudi Arabia, there also is a strained relationship with Western oil workers and their families. While Saudi people work for Saudi Aramco, the state-run oil monopoly. Westerners are responsible for the bulk of the managerial and design work. "As one energy expert affiliated with another state oil firm in the developing world put it Think of the expatriates as the architects at a construction site. They do not do all the work by any stretch of the imagination, but should they leave, the remaining construction workers lack the vision and expertise to care [sic] the project to fruition," explained Zeihan (2004). [Pg.85]
