Multidisciplinary teams

The process hazards analysis is conducted by an experienced, multidisciplinary team that examines the process design, the plant equipment, operating procedures, and so on, using techniques such as... [Pg.797]

Adequate resources are fundamental to any project, but even more so to a well-functioning health and safety program. Many mishaps have been traced to improperly trained workers, lack of adequate tools and equipment, or requirements for personnel to work excessive hours or at unfamiliar jobs because of inadequate staffing or lack of adequate resources. The multidisciplinary team approach can help to identify required resources and can help balance, identify, and coordinate necessary assets. [Pg.55]

Employers must develop in-house capability to investigate incidents that occur in their facilities. A team should be assembled by the employer and trained in the techniques of investigation, including how to conduct interviews of witnesses, assemble needed documentation, and write reports. A multidisciplinary team is better able to gather the facts of the event and to analyze them and develop plausible scenarios as to what happened and why. Team members should be selected on the basis of their training, knowledge, and ability to contribute to a team effort to fully investigate the incident. [Pg.242]

HAZOP is a formal technique for eliciting insights about system behavior from a multidisciplinary team that collectively has thorough knowledge of the plant and the physical phenomena involved in the plant (Figure 3.3.4-1). [Pg.86]

Are multidisciplinary teams employed to manage product realization and production phases ... [Pg.80]

Is the development of plant, facilities, and equipment undertaken by multidisciplinary teams ... [Pg.80]

Much of the following section discusses the basics of establishing and working with intracompany, multidisciplinary teams. If you are familiar and experienced with this approach to problem-solving, you may wish to skip to Section 3.4, Define Company-Specific Attributes."... [Pg.50]

While a multidisciplinary team approach is ideally suited to PSM design and installation, it is not the only way. PSM goals can be achieved through the efforts of a single professional, or a small homogeneous task group (for example, facility managers or safety specialists) the process is essentially the same as described here, but on a smaller, more limited scale. [Pg.51]

The time taken for biotechnological developments in oil refining has been, so far, very long. However, it should be noted that the MB and GE advances have only been recent and the magnitude of involvement and efforts by the oil industry itself has not been substantial. Assuming a more proactive involvement of the oil industry, the incorporation of modern tools and the building of the much needed multidisciplinary team, the developmental time should decrease. Nevertheless, any current development has to be oriented to address the issues that will come up in stated future scenarios, such as the integrated bio-oil-refineries of the future. [Pg.387]

The CRC program provided the R and D vehicle to bring together the multidisciplinary teams across academe and industry to address the fundamental science issues underpinning the question of Why is the deposit there and not there (Jon Hronsky, circa 1998). Inspired by work in the oil industry in the 1980s, the AGCRC (Australian Geodynamics CRC) followed closely by... [Pg.432]

An H RA involves a review of the process design and its control, operation, and maintenance practices. The review is conducted by a multidisciplinary team with expertise in the design and operation of the process unit. The team uses a systematic screening process to determine how deviations from normal operation lead to process hazards. The H RA identifies areas where the process risk is too high, requiring the implementation of safety functions. The team s objective is to reduce the risk to below the owner/operator s risk criteria. [Pg.103]

CRAC is the basic client organization within CMA. It consists of 15 company representatives, one-third of which are replaced each year by new representatives. This standing technical committee is served by CMA staff, outside consultants and outside counsel, as appropriate. While the various sections of the Toxic Substances Control Act are interrelated and interdependent this se c t i o n - b y - s e c t i o n task group structure has so far proved extremely effective in dealing with the various proposals which EPA has issued. Our key organizational theme, therefore, has been to utilize a multidisciplinary team concept to... [Pg.95]

An inherent safety review should be conducted by a multidisciplinary team. For new facilities, the inherent safety review is an excellent opportunity to begin to involve those persons likely to have line responsibility for the facility that will need to deal with the chemical reactivity hazards... [Pg.32]

A multidisciplinary team approach is used during all phases of evaluation. [Pg.390]

Multidisciplinary teams conduct process hazard analyses. [Pg.391]

The academic base in experimental medicine, in both training and scienhfic programs, must be rebuilt. Translational research, that is, specific product-related research, alone is not sufficient. A government-academic-industry consortium or multiple consortia may be one model to get some of this research started, but clinical pharmacology needs to be integrated as a key part of the multidisciplinary teams in each of these endeavors. [Pg.616]

Because patients with very severe social problems tend to be excluded from prospective trials, additional problems may emerge now that many clinicians have accepted chemoradiation as the standard treatment for locoregionally advanced disease. There is no evidence that the use of concurrent chemotherapy permits significant reductions in total treatment dose there is also no evidence that chemoradiation overcomes the detrimental effects of treatment protraction. It is therefore critical that multidisciplinary teams work closely with patients and social services to educate patients and facilitate the timely and complete administration of this complex treatment. [Pg.314]

Every LBP sufferer who does not improve in 3 months should be sent to a multidisciplinary team. [Pg.660]

Skeletal sarcomas can be largely divided into osteosarcomas on one hand and the Ewings family of sarcomas, including peripheral neuro-ectodermal tumors or PNETs, on the other hand. Both groups share a sensitivity to chemotherapy and need to be managed by multidisciplinary teams to optimize potential curability. [Pg.719]
