Morphological specialization

Termites are living in rigid societies in which morphologically specialized individuals execute specific tasks king and queen reproduce, the workers forage and feed. Finally, soldiers of many termite species are morphologically and physiologically specialized for defense [182]. 

The vesicles are intimately involved in the release of the transmitter into the synaptic or neuroeffector cleft in response to an action potential. Following release, the transmitter must diffuse to the effector cells, where it interacts with receptors on these cells to produce a response. The distance between the varicosities and the effector cells varies considerably from tissue to tissue. Smooth muscle, cardiac muscle, and exocrine gland cells do not contain morphologically specialized regions comparable to the end plate of skeletal muscle. 

Since the invasive form of Candida in vaginal mycosis is the pseudo-mycelium, we also looked at this morphologically specialized material. We observed that bifonazole causes an accumulation of dihydrolanosterol exclusively, whereas clotrimazole causes the normal accumulation of 24-methylenedihydrolanosterol, dihydrolanosterol, and lanosterol (Figure 18). Two modifications of the duidized-bed reactor technology have been developed. Mention may also be made of an application in which careful control of polymer morphology has led to the production of novel materials. By treatment of solutions of high-density polyethylene, products are obtained with a celluloselike morphology and which are known as, fibrides or synthetic wood pulp. They are used for finishing paper and special boards to impart such features as sealability and improved wet strength. They are also reported to be used for such diverse applications as tile adhesives, thixotropic agents, battery separators and teabags ...

The morphology of globular type is the most favourable when superplastic deformation is to occur in AI78wt%Zn alloy. This type of structure is formed by decomposition of the a solid solution a -> a + P However, plates usually dominate in the structure of this alloy.
