Minimum delay

The CTC system was the scheme used for the control of clinical trials before the introduction of CTX in 1981. Most clinical trials are now conducted under the CTX scheme. The CTX scheme was devised to speed up review and approval of cUnical trials to allow important drugs to enter trials with minimum delay. Identical data are submitted for the filing of CTC and CTX the difference is that, for CTX, only a summary of raw data is required. Information for submission is in three parts ... [Pg.252]

Fuze, PD M535(T177E3>). It is similar to fuze M51A5 (described above), except that there is a booster which provides a minimum delay arming distance of 35 feet (Ref 52, pp 5-44 Sc 5-45 no drawing of mechanism)... [Pg.903]

In the treatment of a rigid dumbbell, where the whole time-correlation functions (TCF) can be solved exactly, Stockmayer and Burchard21 disclosed the origin for the discrepancy between theory and experiments. They recognized that all measurements of the TCF can be carried out down only to a limiting minimum delay time. With common instruments, this lower limit lies at about 100 ns but the lowest time is often much higher under conditions such that the TCF should have decayed to e"2 at channel 8Q220). These experimental condition imply that only an apparent first cumulant is determined defined by... [Pg.94]

Where wet adhesion was to be measured, discs 31 mm in diameter were punched from the panels and bonded in the same manner, except that all discs were kept water wetted until bonded, and the alignment jigs stored at 100% RH. Specimens were removed and tested with minimum delay to avoid drying out. [Pg.23]

To determine the wet bond strength coated panels were immersed in distilled water for 1500 h, removed and discs 25.4 mm in diameter stamped from them. The surfaces were wiped with a dry tissue and bonded between two cylindrical test pieces using a polyamide cured epoxide adhesive and immediately placed in a sealed container at 100% RH for the adhesive to cure. After 16 h the specimens were broken on an Instron Universal Test Machine with minimum delay. Recovered values were measured after the panels had dried out at room temperature and humidity for 7 days. Clearly, it is unlikely that the values reported represent the minimum bond strengths, as some drying out is almost inevitable, but the values are directly comparable. [Pg.28]

It simplifies production planning, thus allowing maximum plant utilization and minimum delays. [Pg.203]

Interconnections must be short and have well-controlled electrical characteristics in order to propagate high speed signals with minimum delay and distortion. Finally, the package must provide effective heat removal and environmental protection for the ICs. [Pg.466]

Prior interferon alfa treatment lasting for more than 6 months and withdrawn for 2-3 months was also one of the most significant factors to explain a reduced yield of peripheral blood stem cells in 88 previously autografted patients with myeloma undergoing G-CSF stimulation for future autotransplantation (211). As suggested by this study, the myelosuppressive effects of interferon alfa may be prolonged to such an extent that a minimum delay of more than 2-3 months after interferon alfa withdrawal should be considered before harvesting bone marrow cells. [Pg.1805]

The response of the ideal delay-limited controller is not specified, but is assumed to be able to prevent constraint violations after the minimum delay has elapsed. [Pg.327]

This expression for the minimum delay from control action to the constrained output y, min, fj , . corresponds to Holt and Morari s lower bound on the minimum delay. Use of their upper-bound values is not appropriate in general, as they are based on a requirement for decoupling which may not be necessary or even desirable for disturbance rejection. If decoupling is assumed to be an additional performance requirement, the upper-bound delays could be substituted for those used. It should be noted that, in the absence of a decoupling requirement, tj and hence the predicted disturbance rejection, can never be improved by increasing any process delay. [Pg.328]

Given the minimum delay in the control response relative to the disturbance response at the treatment system exit (r = tj- where y is the exit measurement), the best possible disturbance attenuation, 6, is given by... [Pg.332]

This observation is supported by published correlations for pumping rate and air entrainment which indicate a minimum delay of about 7 seconds (see Walsh, 1993). [Pg.359]

For preliminary design purposes, the estimate from Eq. (52) is an adequate predictor of achievable PI performance when all tanks are tightly controlled. If control on one tank of a multiple CSTR system is rendered ineffective—due to uncertainty, high delay compared to the minimum delay, or simply the absence of a controller—the predicted disturbance attenuation should be increased by 50%. An exception to this is the case of variation in the sensitivity of pH to concentration on the final CSTR. In this case, no degradation of performance from that obtained with the minimum buffering (maximum titration curve slope) will occur as the performance required in terms of concentration deviations relaxes along with the controller performance. [Pg.366]

Do not attempt to outrun the explosion The Boo fragments of the M26 grenade have an Initial velocity of over 5000 feet per second. During the available delay, however brief, an individual can best remove himself from the cone of the explosion by dropping to the ground. He must assume a minimum delay In every case. [Pg.14]

A result for which the uncertainty is unknown is worthless because it cannot be used to draw valid conclusions worse, it is dangerous because it may be misused and lead to false conclusions. Quality assessment is needed to ascertain that the uncertainty of results reported by a laboratory does not exceed well defined limits, and quality control serves to detect unexpected deviations with a minimum delay. [Pg.234]

With the above-mentioned diffusion coefficients the modeled delay of the molecule arrival at the receptor cell is about 10 ms after adsorption at the olfactory hairs (Kaissling 2001, Figure 3.7B). This fits to the minimum delay of the receptor potential, the first bioelectrical response of the receptor neuron, as measured after stimuli of high intensity. At weak stimulation the average delay of the responses is a few hundred ms due to the chemical reactions of the stimulus molecules including their interaction with the receptor molecules (Kaissling 2001, and unpubl.). [Pg.49]

Manuscripts for Reviews and the Archives are in identical formats and are peer reviewed by scientists in the field for adequacy and value manuscripts for the Bulletin are also reviewed, but are published by photo-offset from camera-ready copy to provide the latest results with minimum delay. The individual editors of these three publications comprise the joint Coordinating Board of Editors with referral within the Board of manuscripts submitted to one publication but deemed by major emphasis or length more suitable for one of the others. [Pg.197]

In order to combine the effects of two different phases, it is required to find out the phase difference in terms of time as the minimum delay... [Pg.178]

The construction of rigid pavements is characterised by the use of specially designed machinery, each of which performs a specific task. Thus, it becomes obvious that there should be good coordination among them to produce quality results with minimum delays. [Pg.627]
