Mandarins

A blend of botanical extracts natural chemicals, ie, isolates and those derived via natural processes, eg, ethyl acetate, absolute tagette and oil petitigrain mandarin. [Pg.16]

Essential oils are isolated from various plant parts, such as leaves (patchouH), fmit (mandarin), bark (cinnamon), root (ginger), grass (citroneUa), wood (amyris), heartwood (cedar), gum (myrrh oil), balsam (tolu balsam oil), berries (pimento), seeds (diU), flowers (rose), twigs and leaves (thuja oil), and buds (cloves). [Pg.296]

Mondello et al. (2, 20-23) have used a multidimensional gas chromatographic system based on the use of mechanical valves which were stable at high temperatures developed in their laboratory for the determination of the enantiomeric distribution of monoterpene hydrocarbons (/3-pinene, sabinene and limonene) and monoterpene alcohols (linalol, terpinen-4-ol and a-terpineol) of citrus oils (lemon, mandarin, lime and bergamot). Linalyl acetate was also studied in bergamot oil. The system consisted of two Shimadzu Model 17 gas chromatographs, a six-port two-position valve and a hot transfer line. The system made it possible to carry out fully... [Pg.222]

Mondello et al. (54) have developed some applications of on-line HPLC-HRGC and HPLC-HRGC/MS in the analysis of citrus essential oils. In particular, they used LC-GC to determine the enantiomeric ratios of monoterpene alcohols in lemon, mandarin, bitter orange and sweet orange oils. LC-GC/MS was used to study the composition of the most common citrus peel, citrus leaf (petitgrain) and flower (neroli) oils. The oils were separated into two fractions, i.e. mono- and sesquiterpene... [Pg.236]

Anthranilic acid, or o-amidobenzoic acid, C H (NH2)(COOH),. is the-acid constituent of the ester found in neroli, petit-grain, jasmin, and mandarin oils. It is a solid crystalline substance melting at 145°. It is prepared artificially, and then converted into synthetic methyl anthranilate.. On Monday evening at Sumile, Ms. Kim was demonstrating, in her immensely friendly but professionally watchful way, the finer points of what she is trying to do. She prefers Stoli Oranj vodka to Absolut Mandarin for her Blood-Orange Cabernet Martini, because she believes it is softer and less alcoholic smelling (and more appropriate to her drink), a fact she proved with two snifters and a splash of each. [Pg.143]

The Mandarin Oriental, New York, which opened in November at 80 Columbus Circle, has done right by me. On the thirty-fifth floor, beyond the lobby, is the Lobby Lounge—a warm well of comfortable seating and flattering light with a King Kong—size conversational view of Central Park and the city. [Pg.170]

As I looked out the window and into the lobby, the Mandarin Oriental, with its silver Chinese cloud motif, began to remind me of the mythical lamasery in Frank Capra s 1937 Lost Horizon. (Mr. Capra claimed the Christmas season with another classic, It s a Wonderful Life.)... [Pg.171]

After the extraction of lipid and nonlipid components from the leaves of mandarin orange Citrus reticulata, the lipid fraction was further separated by PTLC to determine different lipid classes that affect the chemical deterrence of C. reticulata to the leaf cutting ecat Acromyrmex octopinosus. These lipids seem to be less attractive to the ants [81a]. The metabolism of palmitate in the peripheral nerves of normal and Trembler mice was studied, and the polar lipid fraction purified by PTLC was used to determine the fatty acid composition. It was found that the fatty acid composition of the polar fraction was abnormal, correlating with the decreased overall palmitate elongation and severely decreased synthesis of saturated long-chain fatty acids (in mutant nerves) [81b]. [Pg.320]
