Management Manpower

Many oil and gas companies do not consider the detailed design and construction of production facilities as part of their core business. This is often the stage at which work is contracted out to engineering firms and the client company will switch manpower resources elsewhere, although some degree of project management is commonly retained. [Pg.300]

With such systems, it is possible to obtain individual room space heating and humidity control without the need to dispatch an engineer to check every room in the building. Manpower costs can be reduced, with the staff being required for checking and maintenance purposes only. The cost of an energy management system can be recovered in a relatively short period of time (of the order of 2-3 years). [Pg.461]

Implementing a predictive maintenance program will require an investment in both capital equipment and manpower. If a program is to get started and survive to accomplish its intended goals, management must be willing to commit the necessary resources. They... [Pg.809]

Most large computer companies have canned programs for PERT, CPM, and manpower leveling for sale.Such programs are a necessity for a project manager. [Pg.381]

This series of texts is a result of an initiative by the Committee of Heads of Polytechnic Chemistry Departments in the United Kingdom, A project team based at Thames Polytechnic using funds available from the Manpower Services Commission Open Tech Project has organised and managed the development of the material suitable for use by Distance Learners . Does the customer s management fully understand what is required from their side and can they actually deliver the necessary supervisory and manpower support For example, changing from a system of simple chemical dosing pumps to a microprocessor-controlled product residual tracing and addition system will probably require more equipment inspection and calibration time. It will also require a high degree of instrumentation skill. [Pg.318]

In FY 1973, select categories of research were designated as high priority areas forensic science manpower needs, management and evaluation practices, and laboratory technique development. Several of the projects funded are nearing completion, or have been completed, and merit a brief review. [Pg.44]

Proper basic knowledge in science in association with GLP data-collection standards helps to achieve research integrity and success. It is expected that all workers, organizations, and industries adhere to GLP standards for study documentation, sample handling, data management, and reporting. Only the use of GLP and manpower together can enrich chemical safety for the improvement of human health and safety worldwide. [Pg.447]

Maintenance is a vital component of all pilot plant and plant manufacturing operations. Any organization that strives to meet deadlines for the preparation of clinical supplies and commercial APIs requires a plant that ideally does not break down. To achieve this, all responsible managements require a strong, well-staffed maintenance department that has the trained manpower, budget, spare parts, mission, and organization to keep the plant operating. [Pg.201]

It is also prudent that the general results of a process hazard assessment technique are explained or are known to management prior to its occurrence, so that their expectations are consistent with those results. Management should fully realize that monetary commitment (manpower and financial expenditures) are required to initiate, perform and follow up the review. [Pg.21]

This is where management participation becomes critical because allocation of resources, both manpower and equipment, for long range research, catalyst development and trouble shooting emergency research becomes an exceptionally difficult task. [Pg.10]

With only very few exceptions personnel is by far the most expensive resource. Incorrect project cost estimates are most likely due to an inexact estimate of the manpower required. Most errors (mostly underestimates) occur due to deficiencies of the project plan which directly and considerably influence the manpower estimates. First of all, the time to accomplish project tasks is usually underestimated. Second, the project plan is not detailed enough for reliable manpower estimates, and third, the contribution of other than research personnel (management, administration, animal attendants, dishwashers and other services) is not taken into consideration. [Pg.25]

The project plan for the next phase must include detailed milestones, including the expected completion of the EP phase, and exact resource requirements (manpower, cost, budget, etc.). The plan should address the key issues outlined above. This implies that milestones and resource requirements are in line with the effort to manage the risks. [Pg.331]
