The first step is for someone in management to recognize the need for computer systems validation and to gather the other management expertise necessary to address the issue. This person is usually someone in the Quality Assurance Unit (QAU) or the computer operations, Management Information Systems - MIS, group. While these two departments need to be involved, computer systems users such as laboratory leaders, study directors, and other affected department managers need to be included in the development of a computer systems validation plan. 

To verify the accuracy of the company s accident register, the safety investigator will review the accident data the FMCSA has on file for the company. Centralization There wiU be fewer large centralized warehouses in the future to replace the more numerous, smaUer, decentralized warehouses of the past. There will be fewer managers and administrative people involved with distribution as integrated distribution is pursued and distribution staffs are centralized. Along with the centralization of warehouses and staffs wUl come the centralization of order entry, customer service, and data processing. The increased responsiveness of transportation at lower costs, the focus on the total cost of distribution, the reahties of customer satisfaction, pace, variety, and adaptability—aU are pointed toward the centralization theme. To calculate them it has been carried out an analysis of the activities of integrated management system involving each of the documented procedures and records that attest to its implementation. Records considered most appropriate to collect information concerning to costs of implementing the activities of the management system have been selected and listed in the Table 1. 

In order to address the above issues and improve operational efficiency, Valvex implemented a supply chain execution information system— an e-supply chain management system (e-SCM). The system was obtained from a vendor named Excelvision. This system not only coordinates interactions with vendors and customers, but also deals with internal activities involved in warehousing and manufacturing operations. Figure 3 provides a schematic representation of the e-SCM system. 

Using the distributed control system a network of control can be built up in modular fashion. Individual process control units are applied to single plant units and communicate either with each other or with a central computer via a data highway. Via the same highway, links are also available for production management information, production planning, quality control involvement, whether on- or off-line and costing operations (von Klosterlein and Vos, 1983).
