Management involvement

Management and Employee Cooperation. Before beginning to collect data, the cooperation of the managers involved, including the first line supervisor, and of the workers should be secured. Management needs to be informed so that they can be confident that surveillance activities will not upset production or lead to injuries. Workers need to know what the valuation means to them and how the results are to be reported. Everyone needs to know how the measurement is to be conducted so that the actual measurement causes as Htde dismption as possible. 

These challenges are critical to the profession of chemical engineering, the chemical industry, and our country. Risk assessment and management involve input from a multitude of different disciplines. The methodology is rapidly changing and extremely complex and reqrrires both technical input and input from professionals with expertise in legal, economic, judicial, medical, regrrlatory, and public perception issues. 

In view of the above, instead of avoiding powder formation regimes in discharges, careful powder management involving optimization of the ratio of radicals and silicon nanoparticles arriving on the substrate has been proposed [379]. 

In addition to providing a survey of previous studies, it is also the purpose of this chapter is to explore new avenues of potential applications to various electrochemical phenomena. A condensed theoretical background is first presented, and followed by a Markovian treatment of selected processes and phenomena of interest to electrochemists, electrochemical engineers, electrochemical technologists, and technical managers involved with electrochemical plants. The presentation, although by no means exhaustive, intends to focus on basic concepts, potential utility and new horizons, rather than to pursue completeness. 

Given that reactive incidents are often caused by inadequate recognition and evaluation of reactive hazards, improving reactive hazard management involves defining and requiring relevant factors (e g., rate and quantity of heat and gas generated) to be examined within a process hazard analysis.

The disposal of contaminated activated carbon in the JACADS facility used a micronization process followed by incineration. Communications from technical managers involved with this process stated that the micronization and incineration disposal process presented many technical challenges and required a significantly longer investment of time and effort to complete than anticipated.18 No alternative to on-site micronization has been identified, but one is likely to be needed at both TOCDF and UMCDF. 

Radioactive waste management involves the treatment, storage, and disposal of liquid, airborne, and solid effluents from the nuclear industry s operations, along with those from other activities that employ the radioactive products. Its strategy involves four approaches limit generation, delay and decay, concentrate and contain, and dilute and disperse. Combinations of all four of these usually are employed to manage each waste stream.39...
