Maintenance buildings

A steel-frame maintenance building with sheet-metal siding is located 300 ft (90 m) from the edge of process unit handling ethylene. The building has an occupancy load of 800 person-hours, with 20 personnel present 40 hours a week. This exceeds the company s occupancy criteria. 

The SVE case history discussed is included as a typical situation, similar to many projects encountered in the field that diverge from the ideal case. The site is located adjacent to a vehicle maintenance building in southern California. A 3000-gal and a 5000-gal UST were used to store unleaded gasoline, and a 550-gal UST was used to store petroleum-based paint thinner (Figure 10.15). To add to the situation, different phases of the project were completed by different consultants, and, due to administrative issues, almost 4 years passed between removal of the USTs and completion of the remediation activities. 

To allow technicians to raise the truck body inside a standatd-he t maintenance building, the canopy portion of the body is hinged so that it can be folded back. In the folded and raised position, the 797 body height is no higjher than the 793, Caterpillar s 240-ton-capadty (218-mettic ton) mining truck. 

Other structures. All other miscellaneous structures are assumed to have the same cost as those for a two-reactor S-PRISM module, except the control room and maintenance building, which have a 0.75 scaled cost. 

This chapter describes, in general terms, the materials—metals and non-metals—used in the construction of chemical plant, and discusses the main factors which determine their selection. The major consideration of the suitability of a material is its corrosion under the particular service conditions required. Other factors determining the choice of a material include its availability, mechanical properties, physical and chemical properties, heat resistance and cost of fabrication, installation and maintenance. Building materials are not mentioned specifically, but many of these are used in the construction and installation of chemical plant.

Small and medium-sized components of the primary stem are serviced and repaired inside the reactor building either by remote techniques in an inert gas atmosphere or by hands-on maintenance after washing and decontamination. Large components, like intermediate heat exchangers and primary pumps, can be repaired in a specially constructed off-island maintenance building. The basic facilities comprise the following ... 

By the time the park was dedicated in 1941, the CCC had constructed water lines, a modem sewage system, telephone lines, picnic areas, maintenance buildings and park residences. Miles of park roads were improved. Cave tour route trails were constmcted and hiking trails on the surface were established. Thousands of acres of former farmland were reclaimed by controlling erosion, planning trees, and removing hundreds of stmctures and miles of fences. 

Airport Building Facilities passenger terminals (and may be redundant with the Terminal Areas Indoor area) for larger airports or the administrative building for general aviation airports. Included are all non-tenant support structures, such as maintenance buildings, operations centers, snow sheds, etc. 

Mold spores are always found in the air. As part of routine building maintenance, buildings should be inspected for evidence of water damage and visible mold. The conditions causing mold (such as water leaks, condensation, infiltration, or flooding) should be corrected to prevent mold from growing.
