All completed building maintenance equipment installation must be inspected and tested in the field before being placed in service. A similar inspection and test must be made following any major alteration to an existing installation. No hoist is to be subjected to a load in excess of 125 percent of its rated load. [Pg.452]

Affected parts of the building must have the capacity to sustain all the loads imposed by the equipment. The affected parts of the building must be designed to allow the equipment to be used without exposing employees to a hazardous condition. [Pg.452]

Repairs or major maintenance of those building portions that provide support for the suspended equipment must not affect the capability of the building to meet the requirements of this standard. [Pg.452]

The equipment power circuit must be an independent electrical circuit that is to remain separate from all other equipment within or on the building, other than the power circuits used for hand tools that will be used in conjunction with the equipment. If the building is provided with an emergency power system, the equipment power circuit may also be connected to this system. [Pg.452]

Each suspended unit component, except suspension ropes and guardrail systems, must be capable of supporting at least four times the maximum intended live load applied or transmitted to that component. [Pg.452]
