Any alloy which lies on the tie line breaks up into the same two phases at its ends. The proportions of each phase, of course, depend on the alloy composition. 

Nonroutine work eondueted in proeess areas must be eontrolled by the employer in a eonsistent manner. The hazards identified involving the work to be aeeomplished must be eommunieated to those doing the work and to those operating personnel whose work eould aflfeet the safety of the proeess. A work authorization notiee or permit must follow a proeedure that deseribes the steps the maintenanee supervisor, eontraetor representative, or other person needs to follow to obtain the neeessary elearanee to start the job. The work authorization proeedures must referenee and eoordinate, as applieable, loekout/tagout proeedures, line breaking proeedures, eonfined spaee entry proeedures, and hot work authorizations. This proeedure also must provide elear steps to follow onee the job is eompleted to provide elosure for those who need to know the job is now eompleted and that equipment ean be returned to normal. 

The hazards of management-controlled nonroutine work in the process areas must be communicated to affected individuals. The work permit prescribes the procedures that must be followed to get the permit. Work authorization procedures specify lockout/tagout, line breaking., confined space entry, and hot work authorization through clear steps leading to job completion, closure, and return to normal. 

The confusion matrix (NSAC-60) is a method that identifies potential operator errors lemming from incorrect diagnosis of an event. It can be used to identify the potential for an operator to conclude that a small LOCA has occurred, when it is actually a steam line break. This provides a method for identifying a wrong operator response to an off-normal plant condition. It is particularly useful in Step 5 of the. SHARP procedures, Documentation requirements are presented in Table 4.5-2. 

Core damage can result most likely from heat imbalance. Figure 6.3-3 is an example from the Indian Point PRA that uses heat imbalance to approach completeness. This diagram shows that cote damage may result from either a loss of cooling or excess power (or both). The direct causes of insufficient heat removal may be loss of flow, makeup water, steam flow, or heat extraction by the turbine. Indirect causes are reactor trip or steam line break inside or outside of containment. Cau.ses of excess power production are rod withdrawal, boron removal, and cold water injection. 

F.xamples of initiating events considered in five PRAs are provided by Joksimovich et al. (lhS3) and presented as Table 6.3-5. The occurrence frequencies vary from a high of 3.7/yr for turbine and reactor trip at Zion to a low of lE-6/yr for a large steam line break outside of containment at Big Rock Point. Another low frequency is 2E-6/yr for ATWS from the loss of one feedwater pump, also at Big Rock Point. Surprisingly, these are less than a large LOCA (IE- 5/yr) at the same plant. Except for Big Rock Point, this table provides no information on externalities.

The risk of bums is normally only experienced when filling a magnet with nitrogen or helium. You need to be protected in case the liquid spills or the transfer line breaks. Protection just means covering up any exposed skin (lab coat, visor and thick gloves are normally sufficient). At all other times, the cryogens are safely in their cans and should stay there unless something catastrophic happens.

PWR have demonstrated recovery from catastrophic major feedwater and steam line breaks without fuel damage. 

When an equation is too long to fit on one line, break it after an operator that is not within an enclosing mark (parentheses, brackets, or braces) or break it between sets of enclosing marks. Do not break equations after integral, product, and summation signs after trigonometric and other functions set in roman type or before derivatives.
