Color streaks

Strichelchen, n. little stroke or streak, stricheln, v.t. streak shade, hatch (of lines) break (at short intervals)-Strich-farbe, /. (Min.) streak color, streak, -formulierung, /. formula writing with lines or dashes (to represent bonds), -gitter, n. simple line grating, -kreuz, n. cross hairs, cross wires, -kultur, /. streak culture. 

The root cause of dark color streaks in gray-colored parts can sometimes be more difficult to determine since both poorly dispersed pigments and resin degradation products can be the source. In these cases, removing the color masterbatch from the process and operating with just the natural resin will allow the root cause to be identified. That Is, If the dark color streaks still occur in the product after the color masterbatch is removed, then the source of the problem is related to resin degradation. Two case studies are shown in Section 11.12 to illustrate these defects.

Physical mineralogy is concerned with the physical properties and descriptions of minerals. Minerals can be described using several physical attributes, including hardness, specific gravity, luster, color, streak, and cleavage. 

In most cases the color of the ammonia-treated wood is darker and approaches a walnut color. Some color streaking is a drawback with certain wood species. In addition, the ammonia vapor reacts with some of the wood components to produce a liquid that drains from the wood upon release of the ammonia pressure. This process is not in commercial use at the present time. 

Leaves with brown edges. Cause Bacterial canker. Lower leaves wilt and curl up stems develop light-colored streaks and are brown and mealy inside. See page 229 for an illustration of this disease. Destroy infected plants. To prevent problems, presoak seed in 10 percent bleach solution, and avoid wounding plants. Don t touch plants when they are wet to avoid spreading the disease. 

Properties Tin-white to light steel gray in color streak, same metallic luster. D 18.8-21.12, Mohs hardness 6-7. Composition is variable ranging from 10.0-77.2% iridium, 17.2-80.0% osmium,... 

Dark blue-gray, crystalline mass with a bluish metallic sheen. The crystals are soft, friable and give a colored streak. 

Doctor streak n. A defect in printed fabrics consisting of a wavy white or colored streak in the warp direction. It is caused by a damaged or improperly set doctor blade on the printing machine.
