Kidney tumors carcinoma

Male Sprague-Dawley rats were administered lead acetate equivalent to 37 mg lead/kg/day in their drinking water for 76 weeks as part of a study to determine interactions between sodium nitrite, ethyl urea, and lead. There were no kidney tumors in the 10 control rats. Renal tubular carcinomas were found in 13 (81%) of the 16 treated rats. Three of these tumors were detected at 72 weeks and the remaining were found at terminal necropsy (Roller et al. 1985). [Pg.209]

Chronic oral smdies in mice and rats show clear evidence that bromodichloromethane is carcinogenic. Male mice administered 50 mg/ kg/day by gavage 5 days/week for 2 years had an increased incidence of renal carcinoma hepatic tumors were observed in female mice similarly dosed with 75 or 150 mg/kg/day. Tumors of the large intestine (intestinal carcinoma) occurred in rats at incidences of 13/50 and 45/50 in males exposed to 50 or lOOmg/ kg/day, 5 days/week for 2 years, respectively 12 of 47 females were affected at the higher dose. Kidney tumors were observed in both male and female rats exposed to 100 mg/kg/day,... [Pg.92]

Male and female Fischer 344 rats exposed for 2 years to inhalation concentrations of 200, 600, and 1800 ppm tetrahydrofuran showed marginally increased incidences of renal tubule epithelial adenoma in male rats at the mid- and high- concentration exposures. The combined occurrence of renal tubule epithelial adenoma and carcinoma exhibited a positive trend. The incidence of combined tumors in mid and high dose males exceeded the historical control range. No tumors were observed in female rats. NTP concluded that tetrahydrofuran showed some evidence of carcinogenic activity in male rats but no evidence in female rats. The mode of action for the kidney tumors observed in male rats is via a nongenotoxic mechanism with associated increases in cell proliferation and evidence that supports a role of a-2U-globulin. [Pg.2548]

Rats and mice that were continuously exposed to 0.07 ppm NDMA for 25 and 17 months, respectively, developed significantly increased incidences of lung, liver and kidney tumors (Moiseev and Benemanski 1975). Tumor types included various adenomas, carcinomas, and sarcomas in the lung, liver and kidneys, and hemangiomas in the liver, but the types were not tabulated according to species or concentration. Induction of nasal tumors was not reported. Exposure to 0.002 ppm NDMA according to the same schedule did not produce significantly increased incidences of tumors in either species. [Pg.27]

Male Wistar rats, 6—8 weeks old, N = 11 —13 Pb subacetate in diet, 1.5%, 23 or 48 weeks with/without unilateral nephrectomy Intact animals fed Pb showed 9/11 kidney tumor incidence at 48 weeks 64% adenomas, 36% carcinomas lto(1973)... [Pg.650]

Inhalation of monomethylhydrazine was not carcinogenic in rats or dogs, but mice exposed at 2 ppm for 1 y exhibited an increased incidence of lung tumors, nasal adenomas, nasal polyps, nasal osteomas, hemangioma, and liver adenomas and carcinomas. Hamsters exposed at 2 or 5 ppm exhibited an increased incidence in nasal polyps, interstitial fibrosis of the kidney, and benign adrenal adenomas. An increase in nasal adenomas was seen in hamsters exposed at 5 ppm. [Pg.148]
