It corresponds to the condensation of a gaseous species onto a suitable substrate. In this process, the molten metal is evaporated from single or multiple bath co-deposition and allowed to condense on a substrate (possibly a rotating collector). Heat sources which have been used include electron-beam and induction techniques. [Pg.582]

Welding ultrasound, friction, vibration and induction techniques give good results. Hot plate welding is not recommended. [Pg.573]

Another type of logic tree, the event tree, is an inductive technique. Event Tree Analysis (ETA) also provides a structured method to aid in understanding and determining the causes of an incident.(i) While the fault tree starts at the undesired event and works backward to identify root causes, the event tree looks forward to display the progression of various combinations of equipment failures and human errors that result in the incident graphically. [Pg.56]

All techniques for inducing d-ASCs, except drug or physiological effects that act directly on various bodily functions, must work through Input-Processing. That subsystem mediates all communication. Yet it is useful to distinguish between induction techniques that are... [Pg.102]

The solid state high resolution n.m.r. spectra were run on a CXP 200 BruKer spectrometer in which the 31P nucleus resonates at 81 MHz. Samples used were finely powedered and hand-tamped in glass tubes. The spectra were recorded using the Proton Enhanced Nuclear Induction Technique (6) on the same basis of a one shot cross polarization and high power decoupling during acquisition. A capillary tube of trimethylphosphate inserted in the powder sample is used as internal reference. [Pg.581]

Conductivity of (BN) iSO F and comparison with Cg SO F. In our early studies (12), a four-probe technique was employed, in which four platinum wires were used for electrical contact, and the samples were prepared by pressing powdered polycrystalline material into pellets. Because the platinum wires and the pellet surface are not ideally flat, a uniform intimate contact could not be assured between the wires and the pellet. The boundary effects due to the polycrystalline nature of the pellet sample also render such conductivity measurements unreliable. Attempts to use a contactless radio frequency inductive technique described by Zeller et al. (22) failed because this technique is not sensitive to low conductivities. A four-point probe measurement (21) on an intercalated highly oriented boron nitride sample was used in the present set of conductivity measurements. The <7295k 1.5Scm . The specific conductivity increased with decreasing temperature (see Fig. 1), it having nearly twice the room temperature value at 77 K. This indicates metallic behavior. [Pg.229]

As in any induction technique, the person preparing to meditate has explicit and implicit expectations of what will come about. His explicit expectations stem from his immediately conscious memories of what he knows about meditation and his goal in doing it. His implicit expectations range from the implicit but potentially conscious ones that come from other knowledge about meditation he could recall but is not recalling at the moment, to more implicit ones that he has absorbed over a longer time and of... [Pg.51]

Tetraploidy has been induced in several bivalve species, notably C. gigas, where induction was achieved by a cross of rare fertile triploid oysters with diploid males followed by chemical polar body retention (Guo and Allen, 1994). This process was patented by the company 4Cs Breeding Technology (Strathmere, New Jersey, USA) and is in commercial use, but is presently inappropriate for mussels due to the step requiring fertile triploid females. A previous study had shown all tested triploid mussels to be male (Brake et al, 2004), so we chose to adapt a direct induction technique that had already produced tetraploid M galloprovincialis in an experimental trial (Scarpa et al.,1993). [Pg.350]
