Pinhole density is another property of interest in defining insulation integrity. It was indirectly assessed from the number of shorts in a statistical number of probed die where the die was a multilevel test structure consisting of TiWAu-polyimide-TlWAu with 3275 crossovers of first and second metal per die. The results indicated that the probability of a short in a crossover for 1.2 y thick PI2545 was 1 in 133,333. [Pg.98]

In the mid-term, sequestration pilot testing will develop options for direct and indirect sequestration. The direct options involve the capture of C02 at the power plant before it enters the atmosphere coupled with "value-added" sequestration, such as using COz in enhanced oil recovery (EOR) operation and in methane production from deep unmineable coal seams. "Indirect" sequestration involves research on means of integrating fossil fuel production and use with terrestrial sequestration and enhanced ocean storage of carbon. [Pg.257]

Selection of a comprehensive testing battery to record the rate of AChE inhibition is a crucial point. In addition to the estimation of AChE activity, other functions (e.g., sensory systems, reflexes, neuromotor development, locomotion, gait, reactivity to medication) require close monitoring to achieve chemical safety to OPs. In the case of children and workers exposed to very low doses of OPs, other tests should indirectly include parameters like learning, memory loss, social behavior, and reproductive behavior. To integrate behavioral data into the context... [Pg.150]

In the past, this company s process control design would have placed interlocks on many of the indirect causes of releases. The indirect causes include a wide-open steam control valve, a closed chlorine gas valve downstream of the vaporizer, or a wide open upstream nitrogen regulator. Unfortunately with the large number of interlocks with similar test requirements, there was not sufficient time and money to assure the integrity of all of the interlocks. [Pg.240]

The majority of toxicity tests (which particularly are subject to ethical criticism) are firmly based on studies in whole animals, because only in them is it possible to approach the complexity of organisation of body systems in humans, to explore any consequences of variable absorption, metabolism and excretion, and to reveal not only direct toxic effects but also those of a secondary or indirect nature due to induced abnormalities in integrative mechanisms, or distant effects of a toxic metabolite produced in one organ that acts on another. ... [Pg.47]
