Inclusion significance

Besides Scheme 3.45, one more case of ferrocenylammoninm oxidation deserves to be considered. That is, the chemical oxidation of the confined species. fV-(ferrocenylmethylene)-A/,A/,Af-trimethylam-monium forms a remarkably stable inclnsion complex with cucurbituril (Jeon et al. 2005). Yuan and Macartney (2007) used aqueous solution of the bis(2,6-pyridinedicarboxylato)cobaltate(III) ion for comparative oxidation of free and included compounds. This oxidant does not bind to curcubituril. As it turned out, the inclusion significantly reduces the rate constants for the ferrocenyl-ferroceniumly transition. One of the important causes of the retardation observed is the steric hindrance due to close approach of the oxidant to the encapsulated ferrocene (Yuan and Macartney 2007). 

Certain types of equipment are specifically excluded from the scope of the directive. It is self-evident that equipment which is already regulated at Union level with respect to the pressure risk by other directives had to be excluded. That is the case with simple pressure vessels, transportable pressure equipment, aerosols and motor vehicles. Other equipment, such as carbonated drink containers or radiators and piping for hot water systems are excluded from the scope because of the limited risk involved. Also excluded are products which are subject to a minor pressure risk which are covered by the directives on machinery, lifts, low voltage, medical devices, gas appliances and on explosive atmospheres. A further and last group of exclusions refers to equipment which presents a significant pressure risk, but for which neither the free circulation aspect nor the safety aspect necessitated their inclusion.

Al—Cr. Although no commercial ahoys are based on this system, chromium [7440-47-3] Cr, is an ingredient of several complex and commercially significant ahoys (Fig. 16. The Cr is added for control of grain stmcture. The Al—Cr system has a peritectic portion at 661°C where soHd solubiHty is 0.7% Cr and Hquid solubiHty is 0.4% Cr. Free2ing of binary ahoys containing >0.4% Cr produces coarse primary crystals (metallic inclusions) of AlyCr [12005-37-7] which may adversely affect mechanical properties. In complex ahoys, the Hquid solubiHty can be reduced such that formation of primary AlyCr crystals may occur at significantly lower Cr contents. 

High purity 50% ferrosihcon containing <0.1% Al and C is used for production of stainless steel and corded wire for tires, where residual aluminum can cause harm fill alumina-type inclusions. These are also useflil in continuous cast heats, where control of aluminum is necessary. High purity grades of 50 and 75% ferrosihcon containing low levels of aluminum, calcium, and titanium are used for sihcon additions to grain-oriented electrical steels, where low residual aluminum content contributes to the attainment of desired electrical properties, eg, significant reduction of eddy currents. 

A significant use of butylene oxide [26249-20-7] is as an acid scavenger for chlorine-containing materials such as trichloroethylene. Inclusion of about 0.25—0.5% of butylene oxide, based on the solvent weight, during preparation of vinyl chloride and copolymer resin solutions minimizes container corrosion which may be detrimental to resin color and properties. 

By selection of those chlorinated paraffins specifically developed for the PVC industry to match the properties of primary plasticizers, reductions in costs can be achieved without significant change in properties. However, certain aspects can be improved by the inclusion of chlorinated paraffin such as flame resistance, chemical and water resistance, low temperature performance, and the viscosity aging stabiUty in plastisols. 

One drawback of thrombolytic therapy is a high incidence of reocclusion. In a report using a canine model, inclusion of heparin [9005-49-6] (anticoagulant therapy) in the treatment prevented this side effect (158). The combination of aspirin [50-78-2] (antiplatelet therapy) and streptokinase (thrombolytic therapy) has also shown significant therapeutic advantages (78). Although additional work is needed to estabUsh the thrombolytic advantage of various combinations, preliminary results in this area indicate promise in terms of increased efficacy and reduced side effects.
