No directing groups

Takamizawa et al. developed a general ring-expansion reaction of heterocycles that, applied to thiazolium salts, yields 1,4-thiazines (496, 497) thiamine (220) reacts with dialkyl acylphosphonates (221) to give the tricyclic 1,4-thiazine (222) (498), which is easily hydrolyzed to dihydro-1,4-thiazinone (223) (499) (Scheme 106). In the case of thiazolium slats containing no functional groups (224), 1,4-thiazine derivatives (226) were directly obtained in fairly good yields (Scheme 107). 

The 1,2-bond is homolytically cleaved by both thermolytic and photolytic means to generate a biradical (17) which in the absence of reactive groups generally forms a 2//-azirine (79AHC(25)147). No direct evidence for the biradical has been presented, but indirect evidence points to such a species. Acylpyrazines have in some instances been isolated, and these would arise by dimerization of the biradical (70JCS(C)1825, 7UCS(C)2644). 

The primary indicator of acceptable performance is the quality of the product delivered by the mixer. Although there is no direct way to measure this indicator, feedback from the quality assurance group should be used to verify that acceptable performance levels are attained. 

It is important to recognise the differences between scalar quantities which have a magnitude but no direction, and vector quantities which have both magnitude and direction. Most length terms are vectors in the Cartesian system and may have components in the X, Y and Z directions which may be expressed as Lx, Ly and Lz. There must be dimensional consistency in all equations and relationships between physical quantities, and there is therefore the possibility of using all three length dimensions as fundamentals in dimensional analysis.
