House organs Lists

Supplementary information on technical house organs initiated since the appearance of the second edition of the Printer s Ink directory in 1947 may be obtained from notices in the new literature and trade publications sections of the various trade journals. In addition. Industrial Arts Index, under the heading, Magazine Notes, lists new house organs. A number of the house organs listed in the Printed sink directory have since been discontinued however, the discontinuance or suspension of a house organ usually can be ascertained only by writing to the publisher. [Pg.107]

Microbial recovery studies of membrane filtration method challenged with less than 100 CPU of each organism listed in USP-25, EP-2002 and in-house microbial isolates. Two lots of (Product Name) (Batch Numbers) have been validated in triplicate for each organism. Validation mimicked the test proper in every detail, such as in the volumes of media used, quantities and dilutions of product and diluents. [Pg.815]

In this connection, a work of possible value is the Directory of House Organs (20), a work listing more than 6329 titles in 1954. The arrangement is by title (alphabetical) and by sponsor (both alphabetical and geographical). A symbol indicates the user as internal, external, or both. Titles of special chemical interest must be inferred from the name or the sponsor. An earlier work by Groves (JO) dealt with British house organs. [Pg.100]

An excellent discussion and evaluation of house organs issued by pharmaceutical companies was published by Maurice (9). Ledermans list of house organs of interest to the chemical industry, broken down by subject interest and by type of house organ—for example, review or abstract—provides the chemical field with a nucleus for starting a file of house organs. The list appended to this paper is based on the Lederman list with revision and extensions in several areas. [Pg.129]

Another helpful list, given by Royer (12), is based on the house organs received by the Technology Division of the Cleveland Public Library. A useful feature of Royer s list is that the house organs which have been of greatest help in answering reference questions are noted with an asterisk. [Pg.129]

The house organs in this list are classified in three general categories I, those equivalent to journals II, those containing mainly advertising material and III, those primarily published for employees and stockholders. The list is submitted as a guide and not as a comprehensive compilation. [Pg.131]

House organs and trade publications constitute a large and important body of useful information not duplicated in other sources. Although their primary objective is to sell products or enhance a company s prestige, they successfully communicate the latest technical infonnation on uses, physical properties, specifications, and physiological data (2). The chief problems in this area are how to get this literature and what to do with it once obtained. This paper has provided answers to these two questions. No list of trade publications has been compiled, as it is impossible to make a selection in accord with the interests of more than one company. [Pg.134]

Royer, M. H., Descriptive List of House Organs in the United States Selected for Use in the Medium Sized Library, thesis. Western Reserve University, 1949. [Pg.134]

House organs present material of particular interest to chemists in the form of early publication of data on characteristics and applications of commercially available materials and apparatus. Some of these publications also present review articles, abstracts of current literature, news items, and reports of company operations and activities. A classified list of house organs is given. [Pg.104]

Some of these types of literature present only limited information. Others, however, are very elaborate. Many of the house organs and books or bulletins published directly by various companies are extremely well edited and profusely illustrated with charts, photos, and cartoons. (Items 1, 10, and 11 in the foregoing list are borderline cases they represent substitutes for technical trade literature as it is normally considered.)... [Pg.129]

Cafe Brenda has an abundant wine list. Try a glass of the house organic red, Cotes du Ventoux, or ask your server about the day s wine specials. (They usually go well with the daily entree specials.)... [Pg.136]

Pertinent house organs are distributed by a number of companies and laboratories. Usually these report new techniques or provide some general information about infrared spectroscopy. They may also list technical-society meetings of interest to the spectroscopist. A partial list of these house organs follows. [Pg.346]

Here is a list of chemical suppliers that are legitimate businesses. It is true that the DEA often sets up fake supply houses, giving great prices on hard to find items, such as lysergic acid, to lure underground chemists into traps. These suppliers listed below are not part of any law organization. They are major suppliers only. However, they are required by law to report sales of certain substances. Note 800 telephone numbers are toll free. [Pg.140]

If you re going to paint your nursery, plan on having it done when you can be out of the house for a week (it all depends on the paint, but three weeks would be even better), ventilate extremely well, and be absolutely sure to use a zero-VOC paint with little to no hazardous fumes. The VOC (or volatile organic compound) content is usually listed in grams per liter, ranging from 5 to 200. Even zero-VOC paints have some amount of toxins. Currently the non-milk-based paint we re the happiest with is Safecoat (www.afmsafecoat.com). Milk-based paint is just that, and while pure, it s less durable than non-milk-based paint. For more on paint, see pg.48. [Pg.116]
