List of suppliers

Following is a list of suppliers for level sensing technologies. 

Go to the Web and develop a list of suppliers along with unit costs for some of the various types of flocculants described in this chapter. Also obtain the MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) for these chemicals. Once you have collected the information, develop a relative ranking of unit cost and health risk associated with each. For question 2 you will need information of recommended doses. 

Distributors of general laboratory equipment also offer one or more lines of work benches and fume hoods, often shown in a separate catalog. In addition, there are several companies specializing in this field. The annual LabGuide issue of Analytical Chemistry, published by the American Chemical Society, has a good listing of suppliers. A laboratory planner should obtain catalogs from several sources and compare both features and prices. 

A Danish charcuterie company increased its sales of salami by 50% by being on the list of suppliers to a pizza chain that sells organic pizzas to British consumers (Organic Denmark, 2003). 

The items which may be of interest for gap junction research as outlined in the book are given in brackets. This is, however, not the entire product list of the supplier. It was not possible to incorporate all companies which supply items in the various fields of research. This is a list of suppliers mentioned somehow in this book and is not intended to represent a complete list of suppliers for cell culture techniques, electrophysiology, biochemistry and labware. 

The approved list of suppliers for products affecting quality is maintained (refer to the purchase manual).

Tempered glass plates are made from heat toughened plate glass. They may be purchased (see list of suppliers) or constructed in a glass workshop. 

A number of kits for the reported isolation of template quality plasmid DNA are currently on the market. These generally use modifications of the above protocols in combination with additional purification, for example anion exchange or glass adsorption and elution. A partial list of suppliers includes 5 Prime — 3 Prime, Inc. (Boulder, CO), Qiagen (Chatsworth, CA), Pharmacia (Piscataway, NJ), Clontech Laboratories, Inc. (Palo Alto, CA). However, this author knows of no side-by-side comparison of these products.

Table 12.1 shows a list of suppliers (probably incomplete) of probes and the equipment necessary to carry out this technique. 

Suppliers and potential suppliers are classified with respect to expected or known compliance with environmental and safety standards. In a first approach, this classification is performed according to their location in OECD countries or non-OECD countries, since the risk of noncompliance with environmental and safety standards is expected to be higher in non-OECD countries (Kranz and Sargasser, 2003). Products/producers assigned a C3 rating represent a potentially high risk and are therefore subjected to a particularly careful check. This means that BASF employees visit the supplier and carry out an EHS assessment to determine whether the supplier s plant operates according to Responsible Care standards. A company can only be included in our list of suppliers if its facilities meet our requirements.

A directory of the French chemical industry 24) gives alphabetical lists of suppliers and products. There is no discrimination between manufacturers and merchants. A French newspaper 25) includes news items on developments in industries, markets, and individual companies in France, with valuable coverage, also, for other countries. Short articles on general developments of an economic and commercial nature, which are useful in throwing light on current trends, are also included. 

Hydrolytic enzymes have long been used for the kinetic resolution of racemic alcohols and carboxylic acids. In recent years, the corresponding transformation on Table 14,1 List of suppliers of enzymes referred in this chapter.
