History of the Project

Once the plan is complete, you will almost certainly need to submit it for final approval. Your company probably has well established approval processes. Make sure to understand these and adequately brief anyone who may present your project to project review committees or board meetings on your behalf. When preparing your plan for approval, it is important to briefly reiterate the history of the project. Although you have thoroughly prepared senior management through your various communication and consultation exercises, they will not recall all of the relevant background. [Pg.87]

The abstract provides a brief summary of the major outcome of the research. It does not deal with the history of the project, the type of measurements conducted, or hypothesis that could not be confirmed. The abstract should avoid noninformative sentences. For example, what is wrong with the following abstract ... [Pg.413]

In this introductory chapter first an anecdote will serve to highlight the main features of near miss reporting. Then the aims of the research project underlying this thesis are outlined, followed by a short history of the project itself. The chapter is concluded by presenting an overview of the themes to be found in the remainder of this book, and an explanation of the order in which they are presented,... [Pg.1]

This case study of supply chain tenacity is a story where a company went slow to go fast and delivered big results in the market. When we visited the team, the members had constructed a timeline on brown paper that stretched the length of the conference room. It depicted the history of the project over the past 15 years. [Pg.274]

I d love to have it in the activity page of the project to show the pulse . It might be interesting as an immediate reward for developers. CodeSaw might show the most active people in the community very easily, and it could show the history of the project (some project leaders might want to erase some parts of it though). -)... [Pg.313]

Wikipedia is the free internet encyclopedia written by volunteers around the world. The history of the project is thoroughly described on the web page http //en.wikipedia. org/wiki/History of Wikipedia and references within. Here I simply recall that the original project (Nupedia) was to publish on the web an encyclopedia solely edited by experts and with articles subjected to peer review. This organization of the work proved to be too slow (in the first year only 12 articles were completed), so the project switched to voluntary contributions to be edited out with a specific software on a platform open to any internet surfer. As of September 2013, Wikipedia stiU allows anonymous editing contributors are not required to provide any identification, or even an email address. This poses a major question about the reliability of the information provided by Wikipedia and especially it introduces the problem of vandalism (Solarino 2010). The discussion about the quality and reliability of the articles published on Wikipedia is out of the aims of this study the topic has been reviewed by Wikipedia itself and... [Pg.41]

This is important information that describes the site and provides workers, visitors, and other personnel with pertinent site information. In addition to studying job specifications, contracts, and talking with project management, the author(s) should develop a detailed operating history of the site. The history is useful when determining potential site hazards. The type of information that can typically be located includes ... [Pg.76]

The primary feature of the projected population growth is the increase of the third world from 41/2 to 8 billion people in the next half century. History has shown that the key measure of population welfare and population stabilization is energy use. Today, people in the high birthrate, poverty stricken, low income nations use only a small fraction of the per-capita energy use of the rest of the world.2... [Pg.100]

Human history—and the human present—is full of racism, xenophobia, hypemational-ism, and other tragedies stemming from beliefs about human populations. In the past, some of those tragedies have been perpetrated by, or aided by, the misuse of scientific information. All those involved in the HGD Project must accept a responsibility to strive, in every way possible, to avoid misuse of the project data, [emphasis in original] (HGDP, 1994). [Pg.84]

The SVE case history discussed is included as a typical situation, similar to many projects encountered in the field that diverge from the ideal case. The site is located adjacent to a vehicle maintenance building in southern California. A 3000-gal and a 5000-gal UST were used to store unleaded gasoline, and a 550-gal UST was used to store petroleum-based paint thinner (Figure 10.15). To add to the situation, different phases of the project were completed by different consultants, and, due to administrative issues, almost 4 years passed between removal of the USTs and completion of the remediation activities. [Pg.317]
