Hiding cells

You can protect either a whole workbook or a worksheet within a workbook. Within a worksheet, you can lock cells so that they cannot be changed, and you can hide cells so that the user can t view the cell contents. [Pg.40]

Internal security was little better. Most of the cells had fallen into disrepair, making them unsafe and unsuitable for housing a prisoner of Bal-samo s celebrity. Besides, the internal layout of the fortress was not designed to keep prisoners isolated from each other, still less from their jailers. Yet this was what the papacy demanded for the new inmate. How, for example, could Doria hide Balsamo from other prisoners at the communal daily mass in the prisons narrow central chapel The legate decided for the moment to exclude him from formal worship altogether. This could be... [Pg.221]

We are now in a position to nnderstand the molecnlar nature of sickle cell anemia. We need to remember that amino acids come in three flavors nonpolar, charged (highly hydrophilic polar), and uncharged polar. We also need to remember that proteins are organized in a way that hides most of the nonpolar amino acid residues in the molecular interior and exposes most of the charged, in particular, and uncharged polar residues on the molecnlar snrface. [Pg.144]

Another way to help skin maintain a youthful look is to apply alpha hydroxy acids, such as glycolic acid. These compounds serve as exfoliants, which means they help in the removal of dead outer skin. This stimulates the skin to generate new cells that help to hide thin-line wrinkles. [Pg.361]

The malaria parasite Plasmodium has a complex life cycle with several forms and spends much of its life hiding within red blood cells.1 It may also suppress the immune system. The unicellular sporozoites, which are injected into the bloodstream by mosquitos, are protected by an external coat protein that is unusual in containing many short repeated sequences. For example, that of P. falciparum, which causes the most deadly form of malaria, contains the sequence Asn-Ala-Asn-Pro repeated 37 times.q These coat proteins undergo unusually rapid evolution, which makes the preparation of vaccines difficult.1... [Pg.1866]

After reaching the lymph nodes, CD4+ cells are rapidly infected and replication of the virus continues. During the initial phase of infection, the virus is spread throughout the body via blood that contains many viral particles. The flu-like symptoms are first observed in about 70% of the patients 2-A weeks after HIV infection. At this stage, HIV titer is reduced due to the development of virus-specific CD8+ cells and due to humoral immune response, which generally causes a return to the normal numbers of CD4+ cells. As the HIV continues to replicate, a person may stay free of HIV-related symptoms for years. The high rate of mutation makes it impossible for the body to completely eliminate the HIV. Independent of mutation, certain subsets of HIV-recognizing killer T cells are not present or lack optimal function, and there is an inhibition of IFN secretion and cytotoxic T-cell activity due to impairment in the function of CD4+ cells. The HIV is also protected from immune surveillance when it hides within the chromosomes of the infected cells. [Pg.176]

The simplest case of a ROM would be lumped models or zero-dimensional models where the fuel cell is modeled as a single set of control volumes one for each component, e.g. air gas channel, fuel gas channel, PEN, interconnect, etc. (see for example Elizalde-Blancas et al., 2007a). This hides most of the details of what occurs inside the fuel cell but allows for fast simulation times. Lumped models are appropriate for use in system modeling applications where the fuel cell interacts with other devices such as heat exchangers, combustors, turbines, etc. This kind... [Pg.131]

The partition coefficient or its logarithm serves as a quantitative measure of a compound s lipophilicity. For pharmaceuticals, water and 1-octanol are the two solvents used most frequently to measure lipophilicity. The two-phase octanol/water system closely models the cell membrane/interstitial fluid interface. While Lipinski s rules do not specify a minimum lipophilicity, a log P value of 5 or less prevents a drug from effectively hiding within membranes. [Pg.51]
