Function computer language

Another line of work is to investigate other outside computing devices than quantum ones. For instance one can try to define and study functional computing languages for DNA computers [5] or chemical computers [4]. [Pg.160]

There is a smaller set of tools that are typically run on the server. Any SQL commands and any procedural language functions are run on the server. In principle, there is complete flexibility of the server side tools, since in principle any computer program can be written in any computer language. Later chapters of this book show how the RDBMS server itself can be extended using server side programming to handle chemical information. These extensions may directly solve the needs of a particular project, but more importantly they increase the flexibility of the RDBMS to handle chemical information. Client programs can use the results of chemical searches and other computations as well. [Pg.34]

Arrays are indexed starting with 1, rather than with 0 as is done in some computer languages. Notice that there are no array upper bounds specified for the first dimension of coords in the table creation. This allows each row to have a different number of atoms. The array upper function can be used to return the actual dimension used in any array. [Pg.115]

PostgreSQL is generally referred to as an Object Relational Database Management System (ORDBMS). The use of the word object implies objects in the sense of an object-oriented computer language. While not intended to be fully object-oriented in the same sense as a computer language, an ORDBMS shares the essential aspects of objects. These include composite data types, methods (functions), and inheritance. [Pg.121]

There are many uses for a chemical relational database. Some of these have been mentioned in earlier chapters. In this chapter, three general types of applications will be discussed. The purpose is not to present complete working applications, but to indicate important issues to consider when designing such applications. Sample schemas are proposed. The use within each application of the core functions described earlier is discussed. Each of these applications might be developed as a Web application or a client application on a user s desktop. Any computer language might be used, although the ability to connect to an RDBMS is essential. [Pg.155]

William Rudge from California suggests that implementation of ACOS and ASIN may have been omitted to save memory, particularly in the past when computers had little memory. Perhaps certain trigonometric functions were considered to be used very seldom. Most other computer languages have the ACOS function. [Pg.181]

When writing a computer program, the programmer first creates a high-level structure then he or she writes modules that fit into that structure. Depending on the computer language being used, these modules are called subroutines, functions, or procedures. Within each of the software modules are lines of code. [Pg.304]

C and C++. The C computer language was the predecessor to the C++ language. Programs written in C were procedural and based on the usage of functions, which are small programming units. As programs grew in complexity, more functions were added to a... [Pg.414]

Silicon compilers, synthesis tools Software programs that can construct an ASIC whose functionality is no longer described by a circuit schematic but in a special high level computer languages, generally called hardware description languages or HDL. [Pg.807]

One special function is required but most computer language compilers have an intrinsic function for the error function etf x), which can be used directly or a table can be generated within a program with a fine grid and interpolation methods used to speed up the process [4]. [Pg.457]

The required computer function can now be outlined in the following pseudo code, which in a simple way can be converted into structured computer languages such as... [Pg.107]

Although not plotted, pressures, flows, and volumes are available at any circuit site, all as functions of time. This closed-loop cardiovascular system model has been adopted by Cole et al. as the framework of a user-friendly model based on the LabVlEW computer language [9]. The generalized pressure description of the heart requires users to change only a small number of parameters to simulate different phenomena. [Pg.334]
