The Committee expressed its appreciation for the continuing intensive collaboration between FAO and WHO and endorsed the envisaged further expansion of this cooperation to reflect the guiding role of these two organizations in the implementation of the International Code of Conduct on the Distribution and Use of Pesticides. [Pg.27]

The specification guidelines described in Chapters 4-6 of the FAO publication Manual on the development and use of FAO specifications for plant protection products (S) should be adopted for pesticides used both in public health and agriculture, those used exclusively in agriculture and those used exclusively in public health. [Pg.27]

FAO and WHO (WHOPES) should use the same definitions, nomenclatures, format and supporting methodologies for pesticide specifications. [Pg.27]

Joint projects should be established between FAO and WHO (WHOPES) to strengthen the capacity of national and subregional analytical laboratories for pesticide quality control. In addition, both organizations should explore the possibility of other joint projects to support the implementation of the Code of Conduct. [Pg.27]

The Joint FAO/WHO Expert Committee on Food Addihves (JECFA) is an international expert scientihc committee that is administered jointly by FAO and WHO. It has been meeting regularly since 1956, inihally to evaluate the safety of food addihves. Its work now also includes the evaluation of contaminants, naturally occurring toxicants, and residues of veterinary drugs in food. These evaluations are collected in a report published after each JECFA meeting (Section 3.6.1.3) (JECFA 2006). [Pg.11]
