Flaking mill

The mold in RRIM is similar to resin transfer molding (RTM) (Chapter 15). In the reinforced RIM (RRIM) process reinforcements such as woven or nonwoven fabrics, short glass fibers, glass flakes, milled fibers dry reinforcement preform, etc. are placed in a closed mold. Next a reactive plastic system is mixed under high pressure in a specially... [Pg.426]

Modern flaking mills are manufactured in capacities of 300 to 500 tons per day. Figure 5 illustrates a modem, high-capacity flaking mill. Buhler of Switzerland and CPM Roskamp of the United States are the major suppliers of flaking mills to the vegetable oil industry. [Pg.2480]

Glass filler These are a widely used fiimily of fillers in the form of beads, hollow spheres, flakes, milled particles. They increase dimensional stability, mechanical strength, chemical resistance, moisture resistance, and thermal stability of the plastic matrix. [Pg.48]

The milling rates observed to date demonstrate that it is possible to obtain increased production rates for SCF-produced products. The milling rates for SCF-produced products are three to four times faster with 35% less energy requirements than that observed with the same materials produced from conventional methods. SCF-produced products have a foam-like character that, when milled, yield a finer particle size distribution for the finished product than that achieved via flake milling of conventional, melt-mixed material. [Pg.253]

Parsley (Parsley Flakes). The dried leaves of Petroselinum hortense syn. P. crispum (Mill) (UmbeUiferae), are from a hardy biennial, native to the Mediterranean region and now cultivated commercially in the United States and southern Europe. The aroma is green and the flavor is pleasant, characteristic, and nuld. Parsley is used for the seasoning of fish, meats, soups, salads, etc. Parsley seed, the dried ripe fmit of the parsley herb, has an aroma and flavor less pronounced than the leaves. [Pg.29]

The general pieces of equipment used in grinding flake mica or mica concentrate into saleable mica products are hammer mills of various types, fluid energy mills, Chaser or Muller mills for wet grinding, and Raymond or WiUiams high side roUer mills. Another method is being developed, called a Duncan mill (f. M. Huber, Inc.), that is similar in many respects to an attrition mill. AH of these mills are used in conjunction with sieves, and all but some types of hammer mills incorporate air classifiers as a part of the circuit. [Pg.289]

The micas, as a class, are difficult to grind to a fine powder one exception is disintegrated schist, in which the mica occurs in minute flakes. For diy grinmng, hammer mills equipped with an air-transport system are generally used. Maintenance is often high. It has been established that the method of milling has a definite effect on the par-... [Pg.1869]

Soaps Soaps in a finely divided form may be classified as soap powder, powdered soap, and chips or flakes. The term soap powder is applied to a granular product. No. 12 to No. 16 sieve size with a certain amount of fines, which is produced in hammer mills with perforated or slotted screens. [Pg.1873]

Despite the statements above, one should not conclude that additional mill productivity did not require capital investment. Removal of the pressing bottlenecks invariably moved bottlenecks upstream into the forming, drying, or flaking operations. Solutions to these problems usually required capital investment. [Pg.889]

Flakes are shared, crushed, and at the same time partly oxidized by an airstream that flows through the drum. Temperature and airflow rate are used to control the process to achieve the desired powder. At the end the oxidized material is carried away by an airstream and classified. Particles that are too coarse are fed back into mill. [Pg.166]

The purified flake is ground on various industrial mills in order to reduce size of the flakes and to synthesize application-specific morphologies. [Pg.232]
