Fibres Italy

Casein is used for a number of miscellaneous purposes in which foimolisation is not required. These include adhesives, stabilisers for rubber latex, paper finishing agents and miscellaneous uses in the textile industry. Mention may also be made of casein fibres, available in Italy between the two world wars under the name of Lanital. [Pg.859]

In Italy, regulations which protect waters from pollution, do not provide specifically for an asbestos contribution (as natural mineral fibre) to water pollution but only for settling and total suspended solids increasing (points 6 and 7 in Tables A and C, law No. 319 [1]. [Pg.335]

The raw materials used for the preperation of regenerated protein fibres may be milk, soyabeans, peanuts and zein. Sometimes alkaline solutions of gelatin, albumin and other raw materials like waste wool, silk and feathers may be used. Fibrolane (Great Bretain) and Merineva (Italy) are made by dissolving casein in sodium hydroxide, and then by extrusion into an acid/saltbath. The fibres formed in this way... [Pg.26]

Hemp is used to a large extent in making string and rope for which its marked tensile strength makes it particularly useful. It is also spun into yarns and woven into cloths. The finest varieties, such as those which are cultivated in Italy, bleach well and can be spun alone or with other fibres. The coarser types have a dark colour which prevents them from being used for textiles. [Pg.71]

After 1950, the rapid growth of petroleum and methane based production of plastics and synthetic fibres became the most prominent feature of the Italian chemical industry/ Montedison, created in 1966 through a merger between the electrical company Edison and Montecatini, in that year produced between 50 and 100 per cent of Italy s aromatics, polyethylene, polypropylene, acrylic fibres, PVC and polyesters." Such a remarkable performance may appear surprising, considering that up to 1950 Montecatini s experience in polymerization had been mainly confined to the more traditional phenol plastics (Bakelite, etc.) and urea-formaldehyde resins (Caurit, etc.). The production of polyvinyl resins and the polyamide fibre nylon had been experimental rather than continuous." The most advanced polymerization procedures... [Pg.296]

This process is used to recycle fabrics made from natural fibres such as cotton and wool as well as synthetic fibres including polyesters, nylons and blended fibres. Hawley (2006) describes the mechanical processing technique used in facilities in Prato, Italy, where acrylic textiles are shredded down to fibre. In hw example, acrylic garments were sorted and cut up, mechanically shredded to fibre, and then re-spun into acrylic yam for weaving into blanketing (Hawley, 2006). [Pg.108]

A fairly new anode system that has been used extensively in Italy is a conductive fibre concrete (de Peiiter, 1993). This has the advantage of being a one component system. It is applied directly to the concrete surface after preparation and repair of the old concrete. It is conductive and withstands modest levels of vear, abrasion and water action, but it rec[uires an overlay if it is to receive vehicle traffic. [Pg.136]

Asbestos fibres are extracted from natural deposits in several regions of the world. The best known are in Qnebec province in Canada, near Sverdlovsk in Rnssia, in Cyprus, near Tnrin in Italy, in Zimbabwe and in the Republic of South Africa. The rock containing asbestos is crushed to separate fibres by mechanical methods. [Pg.110]
