Fast archiving

The use of X-Si02-based aerogels for coatings in ink-jet print media has been explored and found to be successful [23-25]. Their small molecule (dye) absorbant characteristics and their hydrophilic nature make them very promising as a water-fast archival coating component. 

A second approach to data compression is to compress infrared spectra with a construct called a wavelet neural network (WNN). The WNN approach stores large amounts of infrared data for fast archiving of spectral data. It is achieved by modifying the machine learning technique of artificial neural networks (ANNs) to capture the shape of infrared spectra using wavelet basis functions. After providing informed consent under the approved protocol, all subjects had a fasting blood sample collected and completed the 38-question Personal Wellness Profile Concise Assessment Plus (Wellsource, Clacamas, Oregon). The blood sample was used for determination of plasma C-reactive protein level and DNA extraction to determine IL1 genotype. Aliquots of the blood samples were archived for additional genotyping or biomarker assessment as needed. 

The two main techniques commonly discussed in the literature are known as direct observation (or frozen hydrated observation) and the observation of replicas. Both techniques involve the fast freezing of the sample in a cryogen such as liquid nitrogen, propane, or freon. The frozen sample is then fractured to reveal the interior features. This fractured surface can be coated with a metal film or observed directly. Often, the metal film is removed from the sample and observed as a replica. This type of procedure allows the creation of a permanent archive of the samples prepared, and the observation is the same as with any other electron microscope sample with no concern about contamination of the microscope or beam damage to the sample. 

India is in the initial stages of the commercialization of the fast reactors and the efforts on knowledge preservation goes in parallel with the design and operation. Care is taken to ensure that all design and operation data are documented and archived with proper identification. To its partners in international cooperation — the US/DoE and the organizations of the Euro-Japan collaboration — JNC is proposing a joint approach to knowledge preservation and retrieval. The proposed concept, dubbed the International Super-Archive Network (ISAN), would make use of the standardized software the new technologies of the Internet increase the mutual accessibility of fast reactor information. 

Regarding the present situation of Nam Dinh coastal regions, a supplementary design for a return period 100 years might turn out to be an even better choice since double safety level is archived with relatively small increment of investment cost. In addition, this return period is inline well with analysis result from the fast economic development situation (Situation 2).
