Experiments analysis

The proper analysis of liquid-liquid systems requires an understanding of the system. When the model equations are derived so that the heat-transfer coefficient does not include the lack of knowledge of the gross fluid mechanics, a correlation for the coefficient, formulated from experiment analysis, is most useful. The correlation can be employed in physical situations where the gross fluid mechanics is entirely different, as in a different-diameter pipe. [Pg.349]

The work described above provided the technical information for which the CMT method had been developed, while various details of the instrumentation and programming were improved. However, it became obvious at an early stage that there is very rarely agreement between CMT and electrochemical measurements, even if the two are recorded simultaneously. The reliability of the CMT measurements has been tested in several cases (see Refs. 2 and 13, for example), where a sufficient amount of metal had been dissolved during an experiment. Analysis of the cell solution has then in most cases agreed very closely with the result according to the CMT measurements (the total amount of acid used in the experiment is displayed on the autoburet). [Pg.265]

The data from the method validation data should be analyzed as the data are obtained and processed to ensure a smooth flow of information. If an experimental error is detected, it should be resolved as soon as possible to reduce any impact it may have on later experiments. Analysis of the data includes visual examination of the numerical values of the data and chromatograms followed by statistical treatment of the data if required. [Pg.737]

A Cu(II) complex containing two spin-labelled ligands was prepared with a rigid linkage between the terpyridine chelator and a nitroxyl ring.26 Due to the large anisotropy of the Cu(II) spectrum only a small fraction of the Cu(II) spins are excited by the pulses of a DEER experiment. Analysis of the echo modulation... [Pg.320]

As already described, there are a variety of reasons for the manufacture of batches in the pilot plant facility. First, the batch may be manufacture as a development batch. In other words, it could be the first attempt at manufacturing a product. This type of experimental manufacturing could be the result of a design of experiments analysis. These experiments are usually carried out at very small sizes, possibly 1 kg or less. However, many of these batches could be made as part of one experiment. For these batches it is important that the equipment can easily be used for many runs in as little time as possible. It is also important that manpower requirements remain as low as possible for manufacturing these small-scale batches as well as for the cleaning the equipment. [Pg.314]

Introduction of Chromosomal Aberrations by a LH20 Fraction of Drinking Water Concentrate. Because in previous experiments, analysis of XAD-4/8 concentrates of drinking water in in vitro mammalian cell systems was hampered by the toxicity of the concentrates for the cells, an attempt was made to investigate whether the LH20 fractions obtained could be analyzed for the induction of chromosomal aberrations in CHO cells (Table I). [Pg.597]

Table II provides another illustration of this effect. In these experiments analysis was done by mercury intrusion, which is sensitive to a broader range of pores. In this series of experiments, samples of hydrogel were washed in various alcohol-water mixtures to yield pore volumes ranging from high, for the sample washed in pure alcohol, to low, for the sample washed in pure water. This procedure does not affect the surface area, which remained constant at 375 m2/g The activity of the finished catalyst increases with the pore volume. Notice that all samples have about the same volume inside... Table II provides another illustration of this effect. Load 2 il, of anti-A(3 Ab or control Ab (0.1-0.5 mg/mL) to each spot of a preactivated ProteinChip array. As PS 10 and PS20 arrays are commonly used for A(3 capture experiments, analysis of these chip types will be described. [Pg.78]

Whereas the structural assignment by one-dimensional 13C NMR spectroscopy is unambiguous in the case of D2-Cj(,2,51 Achiba and co-workers were able to determine the carbon atom connectivity by 2D 13C NMR INADEQUATE (incredible natural abundance double-quantum transfer experiment) analysis performed on an isotopically enriched sample (20% 13C).58 In particular, they found that the observed chemical shifts correlate well with the curvature of the spheroid, the more strongly pyramidalized carbon atoms being shifted toward lower magnetic field. [Pg.10]

Figure 8 shows the H/D exchange kinetics between 50 nm thick D2O layer and the surrounding H20 polycrystalline ice at -5 C. As shown in the figure, only half of the initial D2O layer is converted into HDO on the time scale of our FTDS experiment. Analysis of the isothermal desorption spectra of HDO along with the observed reaction kinetics for D2O layers of various thickness show that the H/D exchange is controlled by... [Pg.82]

The methanol-soluble fraction was of sufficiently low molecular weight that peaks could be observed in the field ionization mass spectrometry experiment. Analysis of the predominant series of peaks were consistent with the structure shown in Fig. 4.28, where the end and head groups are -CH = CH2 and -CgF and n=2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 (m/z=382, 476, 570, 664, 758 and 852, respectively). The H and F nmr spectra confirmed the presence of vinyl and pentafluorophenyl groups in the methanol-soluble fraction. [Pg.132]

Arrows indicate the area under the disease progress curve (AUDPC) in the absence of metalaxyl. LSD (P=0.05) for 1987 data was 1.1. There were no significant differences in 1988. Data from M. A. Doster and W. E. Fry (Cornell University). Figure 3. Field experiment analysis of the value of single metalaxyl sprays in suppressing potato late blight. Data points are means of four replications. One usually performs simultaneous investigation of sedimentation and diffusion by analyzing changes in the distribution of particles on the z axis with time. For sedimentation under gravity such simultaneous (within the same experiment) analysis of sedimentation and diffusion can be carried out but with great difficulty and only within a limited particle size range. [Pg.337]

With the main factors and conditions in place, we performed more design of experiment analysis on the reaction conditions, along with detailed mechanistic studies, helping us to further refine the process (shown in Scheme 39). Specifically, we were able to reduce the equivalents of DMCHDA from 1.5 to 0.8 equiv. KOH was the preferred base and the equivalents were optimized to control the amount of degradation (such as des-benzoylation). Two equivalents of DTC (with respect to copper iodide) were required for effective removal of copper, as the filtered solid consisted of a 2 1 ratio of DTC to copper. Lastly, salt metathesis was conducted in a controlled fashion by the slow addition of Lil to afford crystalline 2 Li salt in excellent yield and purity. With these improved conditions in place, the manufacturing route to BMS-663068 was complete. [Pg.229]
