Aluminium ions in AlCl3 solutions. We have performed the same type of studies by adding different amounts of copolymers and we have measured the decrease of monomeric Al ions concentration by increasing the polymer content. Figures 2 and 3 give some examples of results "Al bound" as measured by NMR is plotted as a function of pH, for two different systems and can be compared with the values calculated for K IO1 and KQ=1016. 

The material balance is consistent with the results obtained by OSA (S2+S4 in g/100 g). For oil A, the coke zone is very narrow and the coke content is very low (Table III). On the contrary, for all the other oils, the coke content reaches higher values such as 4.3 g/ 100 g (oil B), 2.3 g/ioo g (oil C), 2.5 g/ioo g (oil D), 2.4/100 g (oil E). These organic residues have been studied by infrared spectroscopy and elemental analysis to compare their compositions. The areas of the bands characteristic of C-H bands (3000-2720 cm-1), C=C bands (1820-1500 cm j have been measured. Examples of results are given in Fig. 4 and 5 for oils A and B. An increase of the temperature in the porous medium induces a decrease in the atomic H/C ratio, which is always lower than 1.1, whatever the oil (Table III). Similar values have been obtained in pyrolysis studies (4) Simultaneously to the H/C ratio decrease, the bands characteristics of CH and CH- groups progressively disappear. The absorbance of the aromatic C-n bands also decreases. This reflects the transformation by pyrolysis of the heavy residue into an aromatic product which becomes more and more condensed. Depending on the oxygen consumption at the combustion front, the atomic 0/C ratio may be comprised between 0.1 and 0.3 ... 

The problematic nature of the presentation of analytical results will be illustrated by examples of results of the Mo determination in several wine samples (fictional, but on the basis of own studies see Thiel et al. [2004] Geisler [1999]) by means of ICP-MS (nuclide Mo 95) ... 

Collaborators have profiled their own compounds in the identical assays, to produce enhanced proprietary data sets. These are generally project and attrited compounds. Examples of results using data from these compounds in the context of BioPrint compounds are given in Section 2.3.2.1 for the differentiation ofhits/leads and in Section 2.3.2.2 for the analysis of attrited compounds. 

A criticism often aimed at the use of extrinsic fluorescent probes is the possible local perturbation induced by the probe itself on the microenvironment to be probed. There are indeed several cases of systems perturbed by fluorescent probes. However, it should be emphasized that many examples of results consistent with those obtained by other techniques can be found in the literature (transition temperature in lipid bilayer, flexibility of polymer chains, etc.). To minimize the perturbation, attention must be paid to the size and shape of the probe with respect to the probed region.

Results—Two Georgia Tech faculty members who have collaborated for more than 15 years on sustainable chemical processes are among the winners of 2004 Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Awards. Other examples of results could be published journal articles or recognition from the scientific community. 

Sometimes n rather than n - 1 is used in the equation but, particularly for small samples, it tends to produce an underestimate of a. For a small number of values it is simple to work out 5 using a calculator and the above equation. Rates of fluid phase reactions catalyzed by solids also can be represented at least approximately by powers of the concentrations. A more fundamental approach, however, takes into account mechanisms of adsorption and of reaction on the catalyst surface. A few examples of resulting equations are in item 9 of Table 17.2.

In this section the possibility and the power of chemometric methods for detection of the temporal changes in the levels of the impact of particulate emissions will be studied by discussion of two examples of results from investigations of the impact of emission at one sampling point [EINAX et al., 1991 1994],... 

A schematic of the entire system is shown in Figure 10. It is controlled by a microprocessor and measures evaporation rate at controlled temperature and humidity while maintaining flow past the droplet at terminal velocity corresponding to its changing diameter. An example of results for three different mixtures is shown in Figure 11. 

Two More Examples of Results from an Independent Groups t-Test... 

An in vivo study, carried out on patients with certain skin diseases, allowed us to obtain fairly good correspondence between the measured parameters and the skin assessment given by a clinician. Figure 33.3 represents an example of results obtained in vivo from the skin of ten volunteers before and after application of a cosmetic product. With such treatment, only WL5-Var (roughness) was significantly decreased (Figure 33.4). 

Additionally, it has been remarked that a combination of different techniques is convenient to obtain a complete characterization of porous materials. Thus, in addition to the gas adsorption techniques, we have presented some examples of results obtained using SAXS for the characterization of ACF, remarking the interesting research that can be carried out to characterize porous materials by...

Many hundreds of different composite compositions have been tested for use in ball or roller bearings, mainly for space use. Some examples of results with polymer-based composites are shown in Table 12.11 and with metailic compacts in Table 12.12. Among the polymeric composites the best results have been reported with composites of PTFE or polyimide. Bearings are commercially available with composite retainers based on either polymer.
