Ethylmethacrylate

A similar abrupt decrease in transport activation at a certain critical temperature Tg, which is always in the vicinity of Tg, was seen previously on other charge transporting polymers such as poly[N-ethyl-N-(3-methylphenyl)-N-2-ethylmethacrylate] [(poly(TOMAC)] and its copolymer with 4-(diphenylaminophenyl)methyl-methacrylate [poly(TOMAC-co-TPA)]27 ... [Pg.64]

Acrylamide copolymers designed to reduce undesired amide group hydrolysis, increase thermal stability, and improve solubility in saline media have been synthesized and studied for EOR applications. These polymers still tend to be shear sensitive. Acrylamide comonomers that have been used include 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropane sulfonate, abbreviated AMPS, (1,321-324), 2-sulfo-ethylmethacrylate (325,326), diacetone acrylamide (324, 326), and vinylpyrrolidinone (327,328). Acrylamide terpolymers include those with sodium acrylate and acrylamido-N-dodecyl-N-butyl sulfonate (329), with AMPS and N,N-dimethylacrylamide (330), with AMPS and N-vinylpyrrolidinone (331), and with sodium acrylate and sodium methacrylate (332). While most copolymers tested have been random copolymers, block copolymers of acrylamide and AMPS also have utility in this application (333). [Pg.37]

The integrated planar silver chloride electrode uses a thin layer of 150 pm polymer that consists of a heat curing epoxy resin poly-hydroxy-ethylmethacrylate (PHEMA) to immobilize the KC1 electrolyte. The potential drift of the reference electrode reduced to 59 pV/h after a conditioning phase of several hours. However, this reference electrode was only used for P02 measurement, while an external reference electrode was used for pH measurement. [Pg.305]

C to 31°C. Another intelligent gel invented by Sonja Krause and Katherine Bohon at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute consists of poly(dimethylsiloxane) and poly(ethylene oxide). This material demonstrates the ability to pulsate back and forth between its expanded and contracted form in less than a millisecond when a small electrical potential is applied to it. Among the most popular materials used to make smart gels are the polymers poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA), poly(acrylic acid) (PAA), poly(acrylonitrile) (PAN), poly(2-hydroxy-ethylmethacrylate), and poly(2-hydroxypropylmethacrylate). [Pg.143]

Reagents. Anhydrous d-glucose and glucose oxidase Type VII Aspergillus Niger were purchased from Sigma. Acrylamide 97%, potassium persulfate 99%, 2-(dimethylamino)ethylmethacrylate 98% (DMAEM), N,N-methylenebisacrylamide 99% and NaOH were from Aldrich. NaCl was from Mallinckrodt. HC1 was purchased from Fisher. [Pg.304]

Obrecht [5] prepared mbber vulcanizates consisting of poly(styrene-co-buta-diene) containing 2-t-butylamino-ethylmethacrylate, (IV), which were used in automotive tire applications. [Pg.477]

Although an emulsion technique was found to be satisfactory to synthesize small functional particles for the study of labeled cells in SEM, it was, however, necessary to increase particle size for observations under the ordinary light microscope. For this purpose, a Coy irradiation technique was developed to polymerize 2-hydroxy ethylmethacrylate in absence or in presence of a variety of comonomers.ii... [Pg.237]

The synthetic route to acridine-containing polymers is outlined in Scheme I. 9-Methyl acridine (II) was prepared via 9-ethyl-malonate acridine by the method of Campbell et al (14), from 9-chloroacridine (I, Kodak), (mp. 117-8°C from ligroin). 9-(3hydro-xyethyl) acridine (III) was synthesized via the condensation of formaldehyde with II (15) (mp. 154-6°C, from ethanol-water). Metha-cryloylchloride, freshly distilled, was reacted with III in dry THF with pyridine as base to give IV, 2-(9-acridyl) ethylmethacrylate, purified by chromatography with silica gel/toluene to give red gum (IR 5.85 ym ester carbonyl stretch). [Pg.227]

Poly(S -benzoyl O-ethylmethacrylate xanthate) resin [poly(BEMX)], obtained by functionalization of crosslinked 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate/ethyleneglycol dimethacrylate beads, results [135], upon irradiation at 400 nm, in a heterogeneous photoinitiator for the polymerization of MMA and styrene more effective than the low-molecular-weight analogue BEX. [Pg.191]

Membrane-controUed devices, responsive to the concentration of external amines and amino acids, are prepared by polymerizing 2-hydroxy-dependent ethylmethacrylate and then reacting the polymer with 3,5-dinitrobenzenoylchloride to attach 3,5-di-nitrobenzoate groups to the polymer [48]. Upon addition of amine substances to the external solution a charge-transfer complex forms, which increases the permeabihty of the membrane. [Pg.431]

Owing to problems associated with sorption, chlorobutanol is incompatible with plastic vials, rubber stoppers, bento-nite, magnesium trisilicate, polyethylene, and polyhydroxy-ethylmethacrylate, which has been used in soft contact lenses. ° To a lesser extent, carboxymethylcellulose and polysorbate 80 reduce antimicrobial activity by sorption or complex formation. [Pg.169]
