Dry kilns

List the advantages and disadvantages of using a baghouse, wet scrubber, or LSI tor particulate collection from an asphalt plant drying kiln. The gases are at 250 X and contain 450 mg m of rock dust in the 0.1-10 /rm size range. Gas flow is 2000 min. Consider initial and operation cost, space requirement, ultimate disposal, etc,... [Pg.488]

Lignocellulosics reach temperatures around 80 C in many ways besides. For example, planer shavings and peat insulation around hot pipes or in walls of dry kilns easily attain 100 C, and forest product industries stack still hot wood-base panels at temperatures around 80 C. In many cases the temperatures of the hot materials later on rose above the initial 80 or 100"C, first to levels of smoldering combustion, and finally to those of open flames. In air-exposed and ventilated materials oxidation could cause the heating above 80 or 100 C, but inside tight packs of panels pyrolysis must have been the heat source. [Pg.434]

Changing the pump fluid The interior section will be extracted from the pump and the contaminated pump fluid poured out. The interior section and the pump body are then cleaned with pure petroleum ether (naphtha). The interior section and pump body of mercury pumps should have been cleaned beforehand with a clean brush use a bottle brush for the nozzle bores. Ensure that all the nozzle orifices are properly cleaned. It is advantageous to evaporate all solvent residues in a drying kiln. Then the inside section is inserted once again and the fresh pump fluid is installed through the forevacuum port. It is necessary to ensure that the upper nozzle cover is not moistened with pump fluid Do not install too much pump fluid ... [Pg.144]

The treated veneer should then be close piled for one to two days, with a water proof cover over it, to allow for equalization of the resin content by diffusion. The veneer can then be dried and the resin polymerized in a continuous veneer drier or in a dry kiln. Real fast initial drying should be avoided to prevent excessive migration of the as yet uncured resin to the surfaces. The treated veneer is then laminated into panels of any desired thickness in a hot press using phenolic glue (45). [Pg.138]

When the drying is complete the product is known as green malt, and it is then removed to the drying kiln, where it is gradually dried more completely, the temperature at the finish reaching about 100° C. [Pg.169]

Thermal desorption involves volatilization of contaminants from soil by heating the soil in various kinds of drying kilns, and is the solid phase analog of air or stream stripping. Temperatures in range 200-500 °C are used. The off-gases must then be treated before release to the atmosphere. This method can be applied to hydrocarbon-contaminated soils and to soils contaminated with organochlorine pesticides (Bunce, 1994). [Pg.446]

But to repeat, toe most effective measure to employ against blue-stain is speed in drying the wood. Get the logs from the woods to the saw with the greatest rapidity and the lumber from the saw directly into the dry kiln. ... [Pg.82]
